Quick and easy to assemble, Good and Sturdy.

We bought these a few month's back and they've been Great! They were easily assembled, and didn't take long. I recommend having a rubber mallet and a block of wood to help hammer in place. I put them together myself. The first one went a little bit slow (they come w/directions), but the next 3 went fast. Love the shelf material. I was dreading the heavy pressed wood that usually comes with shelf units. These came with a light hard plastic, extremely sturdy, and made it easy for me to pop into place. I'm storing heavy glassware and other heavy appliances on them and they are holding up wonderfully. No signs of bowing. They look nice and uniformed. Extremely PLEASED with them and want to buy more. I have the other chrome metal ones, like these much better. Plus, a price that makes them very affordable.

Junk

These are absolute junk. I bought the same shelf over a year ago. After my initial purchase I checked the product page constantly only to find it always out of stock. I waited with crossed fingers for over a year, until recently these came back in stock. The metal on this new unit is a different color, it is flimsy, and is nearly impossible to fit it together effectively. Clearly the sourcing for these shelves changed and the new ones are terrible.

Typical Chinese Scrapiron

I bought two of these today and trying to put them together. If you hit the short beams using a rubber mallet, with enough force to seat the rivet, it comes out of the metal beam Making that beam useless. So far I have 2 beams that the rivets came out of. I can see why they took the "Members Mark" logo off of these. I seriously doubt this shelf would hold 4000 pounds. They aren't worth the time it took me to drive 60 miles to pick them up. And they surely aren't worth another 60 miles to return them so I will take my lumps and properly dispose of them in the Dumpster.

Literal waste of money, cheaply made!

BUYER BEWARE! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A BETTER SHELF! Very cheaply made! The metal beams and metal braces that hold each wood shelf in place are made of very thin and flimsy metal and instantly bend or become warped when trying to put together. The side post are more durable and did not bend but without the metal beams and braces are completely useless.

cannot be assembled as purchased

if you bought these in the past they came with metal angle pieces to join the upright posts. These are now tiny plastic pieces less than 3/4" tall. They will not hold the post sections. I had to make 2" long pieces out of 1" angle iron to join the posts. Picture is my index finger pointing at the included plastic joiner and the angle piece I made.

BROKEN OUT OF BOX - NOT BACKING UP THEIR PRODUCT

I was only in town for a few days to work on a rental - did an instore pickup of this shelving unit to pick up with other things while I had a truck to use. After getting it home three of the shelves were split in the middle. I first went to the website and chat tht the interior paper said to go to with any problems - the chat person said they couldn't help and to call a 800 number - which I did. That person then proceeded to tell me I had to bring back the entire item ( mostly assembled at this point and now without a truck to use to bring it back) in order for her to be able to help me at all. When I explained how that would not be possible and had pictures to show all the damage and requested the broken 3 shelves be shipped to my address she said that was not possible. She offered a $20 gift certificate for the hassle but refused to refund the items without me physically finding a way to bring it back to the store and would not ship the broken pieces to me. AWFUL SERVICE.

Pretty But Made with Light Gauge Metal

I have purchased more than 15 sets of 4' shelving from Sam's Club over the years, and this is the weakest of the bunch! I had ordered 2 sets of Muscle Rack 5 tier shelves that were on sale for $59.99, but somehow someone else's address was used as a "shipping Address" and therefore they were delivered to that address. I have a set of those, but now they are "Out Of Stock", and they are extremely well built. These Members Mark shelves are made similar, but the gauge of the metal in the uprights, as well as the shelf supports are approximately one-half the thickness of the Muscle Rack shelves. Flimsy is the best word that I can use. I picked up 2 sets of the Members Mark shelves, hauled one down 2 flights of stairs to the basement, and ended up keeping it rather than trying to carry it back out. I will be returning the 2nd set. Sam's Club has always provided a decent quality at a fair price, but this set is way too cheaply built for the money. They do go together in an easy manner due to the metal being so thin and is easily deformed, but they do not provide the strength of the others. In defense of Sam's, the same Muscle Rack that I originally ordered are available at other outlets but at a higher price, and that may be why Sam's has discontinued the item. I would recommend them ONLY if you did not need heavy duty shelves.

Not as good as a few years ago, what happened?

I purchased these same shelves a few years ago, and they are solid and well built. However, I purchased these "same" shelves recently, and noticed that the quality of construction has gone down (plastic support connectors versus metal in older version, and the brackets feel more flimsily fabricated). I even bent a part by lightly tapping it with a rubber mallet. I don't think I can depend on these. Why not just increase the price a little rather than cutting corners with fabrication? Member's Mark products are normally pretty decent, but I am not happy with these shelves.

USE TO BE A GOOD SHELF, NOW THE WORST!

I started purchasing these shelves almost 10 years ago when they were made by the original manufacturer for Sam's Club. They have changed the way these shelves are made nearly 5 times since then. Originally any shelf could be placed in any location from top to bottom, with strong metal brackets holding the top and bottom sections together. Also, the frame was steel and could hold a combined total of 6,500 pounds of weight or 650 pounds per shelf. The new ones are FAR from this design. Now, to prevent falling, you must place one shelf in the middle, because you are no longer provided with the strong metal brackets, but instead plastic stubs that simply prevent the top and bottom sections from slipping out of place during assembly. Also, with the new lighter fiberglass design, the frame no longer holds 6,500 pounds, but 4,000 pounds. While this is still impressive if you are not planning on holding more than that, the frame now bends easily as you put it together. This was once my go to shelf, as I own about 15 of them in my garage. Sadly, I returned my most recent one and I will not be purchasing any more until the quality is improved. The original shelves were only $70 each and an average adult could stand on a shelf. Now, the shelf can barely hold itself together and is a whopping $90. THIS SHELF IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY ANYMORE.
