Save yourself a lot of aggravation and don’t buy!

This is my second one. Got the first one a few years ago. It’s a great unit. Holds a lot. So when I was looking for another unit, was happy this was still available. This May look the same, but it’s a pain to assemble. The rivets will not seat themselves into the slots. I push on them until they click, I pound them with a mallet, but everyone fell out when I went to the next beam or brace. I was very close to returning it to Sam’s Club. Still don’t know why I need 18 plastic protectors, I only used 16. The instructions were almost useless. I’m concerned about moving it to it’s permanent location. I just don’t feel it’s sturdy. I know Sam’s has a liberal return policy, so I’ll save the box. I will return it if it falls apart when I move it ten feet. DO NOT BUY!

Quality has gone down

I bought 3 of these shelves 4 years ago and I was very pleased with how sturdy they were. Naturally, when I needed another one I bought the same one again. Only to find out the metal was flimsier, the powder coat finish not as nice, the brackets that connect the corner pieces don't have a stop bump to prevent them from sliding down into the corner piece, and the wood shelf is thinner, lighter and prone to chipping. I chipped the corners just installing them. The difference between how the older shelves look and new one is astounding! However, the price is the same! I want my money back!

Verified Purchase

Very roomy

This is a great storage rack. Very sturdy, roomy. I really like the solid shelves. Perfect for my project. The only thing that I would like to see different would be to put wheels on them. Finding wheels to fit the frame that are reasonably priced is impossible. Still, though, I highly recommend it.

Second Purchase - OOPS

Just purchased 5 more on these. Regrettably there has been a HUGE change in quality. We just moved into our new home where I brought 7 of these shelving units that I purchased about 5 years ago with me that I disassembled and then reassembled in my new basement. Still extremely happy with the older units. Except of a slight color change, the 'appearance' of the new and older units is identical. But the quality is NOT close. I put all 7 of the older units i brought with me together in a little over an hour. This included putting then in place, moving them, pushing them around and lining them up. I then started assembling the new units. The first unit took me over 45 minutes to put together. The assembly process and construction is the same, but the quality of the steel, thickness of each piece is not the same. The new units are thinner, manufacturing quality is at best VERY poor. i ended up having to bend the metal pieces over and over trying to get them to fit. I am an engineer, and very mechanically inclinded, and 190 pounds. qualified and quite capable, but i struggled. A few examples: The four corner supports are two 36" pieces you put together to form your 6' corners. The older version was the same except the piece used to fit between the two for the older was a substantial piece of angled steel about 5" long and when the two 36" where assemble with this piece the 6' corner would be easy to work with and not come apart. The newer units, instead of this piece of steel to assemble the two pieces, us a piece of plastic that is all of about a half inch. So cheap, and assembling the legs, this does not hold them together allowing you to move it around assembling the rest of the unit's pieces. When i FINALLY got one put tother, took a deep breath and went to move it into place, only a 6-8" move, the unit came apart at this joint falling apart with the upper half landing on the floor. Another example: the rivets or small 'buttons' that 'fit' into the corner pieces should fit easily into the holes, then snap down. This was so much work and so frustrating, over half the units shelf rails would not slide all the way down and some i could not get to go in at all without tools and countless working of the pieces pounding wiggling into place. With the poor construction, IF I were to want to change on of the shelves location, the height of one of the selves, taking it apart and putting it at a different elevation was next to impossible because beating the shelves apart because they fit so forcibly together caused the whole unit to come apart in where you did not want it to. I wanted all my shelves new and older to match. i was excited to find i could still get these units so they all looked the same. My wife would not have put up with this and would have returned these units. I managed thru it. I do not plan to move again, but if i do, these newer units will stay here.

Typical Chinese Scrapiron

I bought two of these today and trying to put them together. If you hit the short beams using a rubber mallet, with enough force to seat the rivet, it comes out of the metal beam Making that beam useless. So far I have 2 beams that the rivets came out of. I can see why they took the "Members Mark" logo off of these. I seriously doubt this shelf would hold 4000 pounds. They aren't worth the time it took me to drive 60 miles to pick them up. And they surely aren't worth another 60 miles to return them so I will take my lumps and properly dispose of them in the Dumpster.

Downright awful

These shelves are just, downright, terrible. The design is poorly thought out. It's a nightmare to assembly by yourself and you inevitably bend a number of the rivets and bars having to hammer them (which it recommends) into place. the material is not nearly as strong as you might think (hence the bending from a rubber mallet.) The vertical posts consists of two posts per corner and the method of connecting them leaves one wondering when they're going to collapse. Go to Home Depot, buy the equivalent heavy duty plastic ones. Still plenty of load bearing capacaity, much easier to assemble, and much easier to disassemble if you ever move or want to rearrange shelves. These, i'll definitely be leaving behind when I move next year.

Extremely Dissatisfied

I purchased the same model shelves years ago and loved them. I'm extremely disappointed this rack as it does not stand up to many of the other Member's Mark products. The shelves arrived damaged and it was very difficult to assemble. The shelves are flimsy; I barely tapped one with a mallet and it bent. The shelving is not sturdy.

Don't Buy

I can't believe this thing is as highly reviewed as it is; fake reviews? I echo many of the same 1 star reviews on here. The beams are ridiculously thin; every single front, back and cross beam has to be beat in; only 1 in 6 fit the first time, so beams are bent. The rivets are thick and interfere with the shelf laying flat, so half of those have to be wedged in with a screwdriver. Wife is using for clothes, yarn. That is about all I would trust it for. More useful for firewood and scrap metal than storing anything in the garage. Told my wife if she tired of using it, or we moved; I'm selling them or throwing them out. Not putting these things together again. I have at least three other metal shelf designs for reference, that I've moved multiple times, with no issues.

Something is wrong with this batch...

I bought four sets of these shelves and every box had multiple bars that were painted poorly with the outer coating. The paint ran and was too thick were the bars were suppose to snap into the frame. After closer inspection, I realized this mistake in production. I tried to scrape some of this coating off, but it took a long time and was dangerous working with a knife. These would be great if this problem is corrected...

Product Changed

I purchased 2 of these units in 2018…loved them…so easy to put together. I loved them so much I bought another in Oct 2021. I decided I wanted one more since I was so pleased with the first 3, so in March 2023 I purchased a new one. This new shelving unit was unbelievably hard to put together. I had to use a hammer to smash all the connections into place. It is not the same quality of the previously purchased member’s mark units. And…the price increased by $25 since my last purchase. Not worth it.
