Ordered Members Mark shelves got Armadillo brand

I ordered the Members Mark brand shelves (that is what was pictured on the website). I got Armadillo brand shelves. They were much harder to put together than the previous Members Mark shelves. The piece that holds the poles together are short plastic pieces, Members Mark brand had longer metal pieces to hold poles together. Too heavy to return so I am keeping them, but they not good quality! I highly recommend the members mark brand, definitely do NOT recommend the Armadillo brand.

Junk compared to previous version

Junk! I bought these as I thought they were the same old Member's Mark shelves I purchased years ago, but I'm extremely disappointed in the new "Armadillo" version. The paint is rough and scratches itself off, way worse than the nice powder coating on my older Member's Mark shelves. The fit for the keyhole/peg is horrible, but forget using a rubber mallet because you'll bend the paper-thin metal shelf brackets with barely a tap. The shelves are flimsy too; I barely tapped one with a mallet to try to get it in and it chipped off a corner like it was made of sawdust. I'm extremely disappointed. I've owned about 5 different brands of this type of shelf and these are the worst by a longshot. I'm too far into the project for it to be worth returning, so buyer beware!

Very roomy

This is a great storage rack. Very sturdy, roomy. I really like the solid shelves. Perfect for my project. The only thing that I would like to see different would be to put wheels on them. Finding wheels to fit the frame that are reasonably priced is impossible. Still, though, I highly recommend it.

Typical Chinese Scrapiron

I bought two of these today and trying to put them together. If you hit the short beams using a rubber mallet, with enough force to seat the rivet, it comes out of the metal beam Making that beam useless. So far I have 2 beams that the rivets came out of. I can see why they took the "Members Mark" logo off of these. I seriously doubt this shelf would hold 4000 pounds. They aren't worth the time it took me to drive 60 miles to pick them up. And they surely aren't worth another 60 miles to return them so I will take my lumps and properly dispose of them in the Dumpster.

Poor Quality Shelving and Packaging

Quality not as good as the shelving I purchased 4-5 years ago. In addition, the first order arrived with damaged shelves. The replacement order also arrived with damaged shelves. Unless Sam's improves packaging (or improves quality of shelving), this will continue to be a problem. I was satisfied with the original shelving; would not recommend this newer version. See attached pictures.

Second Purchase - OOPS

Just purchased 5 more on these. Regrettably there has been a HUGE change in quality. We just moved into our new home where I brought 7 of these shelving units that I purchased about 5 years ago with me that I disassembled and then reassembled in my new basement. Still extremely happy with the older units. Except of a slight color change, the 'appearance' of the new and older units is identical. But the quality is NOT close. I put all 7 of the older units i brought with me together in a little over an hour. This included putting then in place, moving them, pushing them around and lining them up. I then started assembling the new units. The first unit took me over 45 minutes to put together. The assembly process and construction is the same, but the quality of the steel, thickness of each piece is not the same. The new units are thinner, manufacturing quality is at best VERY poor. i ended up having to bend the metal pieces over and over trying to get them to fit. I am an engineer, and very mechanically inclinded, and 190 pounds. qualified and quite capable, but i struggled. A few examples: The four corner supports are two 36" pieces you put together to form your 6' corners. The older version was the same except the piece used to fit between the two for the older was a substantial piece of angled steel about 5" long and when the two 36" where assemble with this piece the 6' corner would be easy to work with and not come apart. The newer units, instead of this piece of steel to assemble the two pieces, us a piece of plastic that is all of about a half inch. So cheap, and assembling the legs, this does not hold them together allowing you to move it around assembling the rest of the unit's pieces. When i FINALLY got one put tother, took a deep breath and went to move it into place, only a 6-8" move, the unit came apart at this joint falling apart with the upper half landing on the floor. Another example: the rivets or small 'buttons' that 'fit' into the corner pieces should fit easily into the holes, then snap down. This was so much work and so frustrating, over half the units shelf rails would not slide all the way down and some i could not get to go in at all without tools and countless working of the pieces pounding wiggling into place. With the poor construction, IF I were to want to change on of the shelves location, the height of one of the selves, taking it apart and putting it at a different elevation was next to impossible because beating the shelves apart because they fit so forcibly together caused the whole unit to come apart in where you did not want it to. I wanted all my shelves new and older to match. i was excited to find i could still get these units so they all looked the same. My wife would not have put up with this and would have returned these units. I managed thru it. I do not plan to move again, but if i do, these newer units will stay here.

Cutting corners, not the same unit as before

I purchased one of these shelving units after having bought six several years ago for use in my storage shed. This one looks the same, but instead of the sturdy five inch metal corner connector brackets that used to come with the ones I purchased years ago, the connecting piece is a now a small, cheap plastic part that is meant to sit in the top/bottom grove of the corner metal piece. It's hot garbage and often pops out of place as you are trying to help secure it with the horizontal metal shelf holders. I wouldn't dream of testing the stated weight limits with this flimsy piece of plastic in there. What were you thinking Sam's?

Sturdy, BUT the 2023 version is junk

Classic bait and switch. The new version is black metal with plastic joining pieces if you want to utilize the full 72" height shelf. The original gray shelf had sturdy metal joiners that pushed deep into the outer supports. The new joiners are short plastic nubs that require a shelf to be installed at the midway point. You now have less control on your shelf height choices since it requires a shelf in the middle to hold the top and bottom together. Appears to be a POOR way to save a dollar on the cost.

Easy to assemble light weight

This is the second of these types of shells that I purchase the first one was super heavy and difficult to put together required hammers in transit time this one was lightweight easy to put together and it holds just as much heavy stuff as the other one!
