In theory it's great, however it's not as functional as advertise. I have decided to use the keypad (it's faster) the auto unlock feature is awesome when it works... Battery life is very poor for a household that has heavy traffic 3 kids 4 adults' always in and out..

My front door is less than 5' from my gateway. First lock wasn't working, second lock now REGULARLY drops and I can't unlock with my phone! Thank God I was smart enough to bring my keys with me, because if I didn't, August would be paying a locksmith bill to get me into the house!!

The lock is super easy to install and has a great features. I paired it with pin pad and it's a great combo. You can generate access codes for all your visitors for customizable period of time. You can track who gets in and out. And you can even remotely unlock the door for them. It's literally an awesome life savior. I am gonna buy more.

Love the lock, but had major issues with the stability of the wifi connection. Ended up having to buy an August Connect to make the whole thing work. Whole thing is stable now. For the price, I'd just buy the old gen 3 with the connect. The only reason I went gen 4 is that it is smaller.

We installed the lock at my partner's parents' home. There'll be no more rekeying when their caregivers lose a key or move on, we'll just drop them from the guest list and feel confident the home is still secure. Tracking access times is also a great help.

Had this about a week now, setup of the lock itself was extremely easy. However the keypad was a total pain to setup, it kept not connecting during setup and had to be completely reset several times. It finally connected and has worked perfect since. Love that I still have my key that matches the other locks on my house and the outside of the lock still matches. Love being able to check if the door is closed and locked from bed at night, no more getting back up to check!

I upgraded from the previous version. The auto-locking feature and geofencing are really useful additions and offer a significant improvement from the previous version. The smaller size is a bonus. Still very easy to set up. Having the new keypad is a great new feature too to allow friends and guests access.

I just wish that it would unlock automatically before I get to the door. I often have to wait and that part is annoying. I would suggest august allow us to set the boundary longer than 200 feet to get it to Auto Unlock before I get to the door. Or fix the issue so it's unlocked before I get to the door.

I've had an august Gen one and Gen 2/pro lock for a while now. My house is old (90+ Years) and my Gen 1 lock wouldn't connect to my apple HomeKit which prompted me to buy a connect. That led me to buy the new lock and keypad. The new Gen 3 lock is now on my front door and is very responsive. I added the keypad to my back door. I do a lot of projects in my garage and basement and sometimes need to pass through my back door. If I'm carrying a barn door or coat rack or tools, I rather not need to take out my phone which is dead quite often when I'm in the zone. The KEYPAD makes my life substantially easier. Keys and the phone are convenient but the keypad is GREAT. My phone and watch don't always respond quickly and I'm left standing at the door closing the app and reopening it or waiting for Siri to tell me something went wrong. Now I just need to choose where I'm going to place my Gen 1 August smart lock.

This is my second August lock. They are easy to install and work so well with the way I live. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the lock will disconnect from my mesh wifi once or twice a day. It lasts only a couple of minutes, but still a bit annoying. One should also know that you cannot initiate auto unlock on a second lock. I understand the reasoning, but there is nothing in writing to be found on this point.
