Does NOT remove cleanly

I recently repainted our bathroom and was very upset when I tried to remove the tape I had placed along the edge of the ceiling and wall. The tape ripped out not only chunks of the wall paint but also the paint along the ceiling. It's rather frustrating to think you're finished working on a project only to discover that you have to go back and redo a lot of it because the tape you were using screwed it up.

Impressive sticking power!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received a roll of the 3M original painting tape free for a review.. Totally impressed with stickiness off this tape. Used on a small curio cabinet. I really liked the tape stuck where I put it and it did not curl off the glass. Had no paint bleed. Thumbs up on this great product!!

Yet another use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I Use scotch blue painters tape all the time for painting. It works great, doesnt allow the paint to bleed under and doesnt leave a residue if removed after a little while. I found another great use. When caulking, put down your tape a wide as you want your line of caulk. Put in your caulk and smooth it with your finger that is wet. Remove the tape. The spray the area with aerosol window cleaner. Smooth again with your finger. The caulk wont stick to the window cleaner so you just let it harden and wipe after the caulking is cured. Perfect even caulked joints. Thanks!

ScotchBlue Painters Tape Takes Out Existing Ceiling Paint

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very disappointed with 3M's Scotchblue painter's tape. After only 3 days, we carefully removed the tape to find that it had taken out a strip of our existing ceiling paint (which we did not have plans to repaint). Our ceiling paint had been done just the year before. We purchased the best tape (we thought) so that we would not have any issues. Instead, we ended up with a headache and another paint job to do. I do hope that 3M will take responsibility and compensate us in some way.

I use this tape as a professional artist

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this tape to block or mask out various shapes on my canvas so that I may paint around an area of the painting. The tape prevents bleeding though to the blocked area. I really appreciate having a great tape to use.

True to its name, not just a painters tape, has multi-purposes!

I am not a painter by any means, but I have used the multi-purpose blue painters tape for a variety of tasks, including - sticking it on a painted wall/to cover an area to prevent splash [its primary, intended purpose]. For places that need touch-ups for whatever reason: be it, due to too many nail holes made by picture frames over the years, and you decide to patch them up and do some touch up paint. Or you are installing new light switches and you need to tape around that area, or even to prevent accidental punctures when working with tools. It seems to do the job as intended. But the great thing is that this, really is a multi-purpose tape, and I feel it can take the role of masking tape as well for better or worse. What I mean is, when you are using this tape outside of the painting realm [such as uses intended for vanilla colored masking tape], it does not leave a sticky residue over time, or if it gets heated [a hot day, left on a hot surface/on a hot day, or just over time]. Which saves a lot of trouble. The "worse", although its not really that bad [I know wrong word choice], is that sometimes it may not stick as strongly as you would like compared to masking tape. For example, folded heavy duty plastic baggies [like those thick, I believe 4mil? 6mil?] plastic bags at around 3-6 inch tall to 2 inch wide. An easier example might be, the freezer bag style zip-lock bags, and sometimes even slightly thicker. This tape may curl up on the corners depending on how its used, if the inside of the bag is "pumped" etc. Overall a great tape for its intent, and other multi-purposes.

Utter failure.

I think a lot. I usually use a more expensive brand (there’s only one - you could probably figure it out), but since I was doing such a huge area I thought I would try Scotch Blue. Not a great decision given I was painting baseboards on my newly refinished hardwood floors - paint seat under the edge of the tape despite the fact that I applied it appropriately. Should have spent the money for the green tape.

Never buying again

I recently painted over a wall that was very brightly colored. It took 3 coats of primer to cover it, then I followed with two coats of paint. I allowed proper drying time on all coats, and allowed it to cure at low humidity for a few days before moving on to the next wall. I taped up the cured wall to paint the next one, and when I removed the tape it pulled off the coats of paint and the primer to reveal the original color! This has put me behind in my project, and has created significantly more work for me. Next time I will buy something better quality.

Wonderful Tape!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this tape. I do a lot of painting and sometimes put borders of different color paint on the wall. I ALWAYS use Scotch Blue Original tape and never have any problems. The paint doesn't bleed through the tape. I always get perfect paint borders of different colors. The lines are perfect. This is a great product that I will use every time I paint. Thank you for making such a great product.

This product has multiple uses.

The temporary, but positive sealing of ScotchBlue Painter's tape allows for a variety of uses. Aside from masking painted surfaces, I have used this tape to temporarily seal containers, post signage and secure/clamp parts prior to connecting with permanent adhesives or fasteners. It holds fast, but removes easily without any evidence of adhesive residue or marring of the surface to which it was attached.
