It took three people around 4-5 hours to put up my pergola, which might have been quicker if not for the heat wave. The screws were securely packaged and the organization was impressive, with everything clearly labeled. When the louvers are fully open and the sun shines through, it feels cooler than sitting directly in the sun. It hasn’t rained yet to see how well the pergola stands up to other elements but I’m sure it will do well. After a week, I’m loving it. The only improvement would be offering accessories, like a curtain for one side or all sides to block more sun or a way to hang lights. Other than that, it’s a great purchase!

I've had decent luck with BYD products in the past, but not this time around. The included bolts are very low quality, and break easily. Also, 3 out of 4 posts had a visible twist. Also some of the pieces could have been attached, saving assembly time for the customer.

What a great Pergola! It went together much faster than I expected and looks great. The only issue with installation we had was attaching the metal plates to the 32 louvers, not sure why they don't ship them already attached. The Louvered roof is awesome and water tight. I am so glad we bought this structure.

We purchased a larger side version for one portion of our deck then purchased this smaller size to fit another portion of our deck. It's well made and had a sleek look to it. We hired a handyman to assemble and bolt to our deck. We like being able to open and close the slats on top. Very easy to use and provides total coverage when it rains. The drainage system works well. We sometimes get high winds where we live but have had no issues with structural integrity.

I am in love with my new pergola. It has brought our backyard to a new level! The louvers allow us to get some shade on hotter days, and allow us to let the sun shine in when its a bit chilly, allowing us to utilize our outdoor space more often. The outlets and usb ports have really come in handy when we have company. Friends can charge their phones and it allows us to easily plug in a speaker when needed. Our old pergola did not have gutters when caused it to be unusable if there was rain as you would get splashed when sitting underneath. It is like we have another room in our house!

Team was very personable and helpful getting the item to me, good communication. My husband and I put this together ourselves (would recommend more people) but it was manageable! It is gorgeous. Quality. Makes my backyard feel cozy like a home, not just a slab of concrete. My dogs love it. I love opening/closing for sun/shade. Every one who comes over asks for a link so they can get one.

Delivered May 12 all parts included and no damage. 4 heavy duty boxes. Took 2 of us a total of 22 hours. Got the beams up first day and finished the rest the next day. We took our time and used the manual as well as the BLIT app. The directions are very good. I attached to my deck and used a couple of 2 by 10 between and attached to my jost. Then used 5 inch 3/8 bolts to fasten it. It's not going to go anywhere. Really love how everything turned out and this is one solid structure, well built and produced. From start to finish it's a 10. Now looking forward to using it and having a few friends over for food and drinks. If you're looking for the perfect Pergola this is it, don't hesitate.

We have intense sun on our deck in the summer. We purchased this pergola for the deck and had I think it will be very effective in the summer. One of the factors in choosing this particular model was its strength and ability to withstand high winds which we get occasionally. I do wish there were options for side curtains to block the sun in the late afternoon. We found the installation to be a bit more complicated and hired someone to finish the frame and secure the pergola to the deck and install the louvers.

I like the pergola itself because there is one major issue - no option to add patio shades! , Due to the direction of the sun, we can not use the pergola passed 3PM which is a big bummer. Patio shades would have been a solution but Backcountry doesnt have any for their pergola.

Backyard Discovery is by far the best Pergola around. I looked at all the competitors and they were no better than the Backyard Discovery. They wanted to charge from 3X to 5X more for their product for nothing. When it arrived it was exactly as advertised and easy to assemble, we put it together in about 5 hours it came in 4 boxes with nothing missing. We added the lighting and will install a rollup screan to personalize. Very impressed, by far the best for the money. Construction Tip: Get a good hammer drill and good bits to anchor in to concrete or stone.
