This is more than just a simple trash can, it is a well designed and masterfully constructed waste container. Simple Human has thought of everything you could possibly want and engineered it into this container. On top of that, it is sleek and quite. It is truly years ahead of other waste container design. I would highly recommend the investement.

For the price you pay for this step can I think it needs tweaking. You’ll hear a lot of good things about it, and so far as I am able to see after several weeks of using it in my kitchen, I’ll agree with most. I’ll only talk about what needs improving. For one, the gap in the back for holding on and rolling it about on the 2 back wheels - it really hurts my fingers every time I attempt to do so. To be clear, I don’t have large hands. Additionally, the lid is extremely slim. I mean delicately thin, and it’s making me nervous about its longevity. Perhaps it was constructed thus so as to have less weight taxing the step mechanism. But it does appear rather flimsy. Then there’s the lock slider to keep the lid up while you manage the inner bucket or do lengthy tasks - it’s not as smooth to slide or use as I had anticipated. These points may not be a big deal for most and I am only mentioning to give you a comprehensive picture, in case you are on the fence, because it is quite an investment for an item one uses repeatedly everyday. This trash can changes lives! The design is so smart and looks great. Also, I want to confirm for everyone a standard 13 gallon trash bag fits this trash can. If you use a cheap bag, then of course you will have a tear occasionally. I have used the cheap bags and the nicer flex bags, and they all fit and work well...but of course recommend using the flex bags as they are sturdier.

We've had this can for almost a month, and I am loving it! I know some people said they have an issue with the lid not closing securely, but that hasn't been the case for me. Everything is snug, the lid slowly lowers by itself, and if I need it to stay open, there's a notch I can push in to keep it open for as long as I need. I'm using different bags because of cost-savings, and they seem to work great. This is - by far - the best trash can I've ever owned! I highly recommend it!

My husband and I love our new trash can so much we bought one for our daughter. The all plastic cans we previously bought at at a popular store broke way too soon leaving the step on function useless. We wanted quality this time! And we were shocked at how much trash our Simplehuman can is able to hold. It is refreshing to own such a well made product! Thank You!

I've had several trashcans in my adult life, but after having my son and realizing how easy it is for him to get into everything, I finally bought a grown up trashcan. Boy, has this thing exceeded my expectations! It holds way more trash than my old can, but the bags aren't so big they're difficult to carry. The bags are high quality and don't tear. Plus there's extra room in the bags whenever you take them out because we always seem to have a extra trash to add. The lid closes beautifully and is tight enough to the edge that tiny toddler fingers can't get in, and the sides are fingerprint proof. This is probably the best kitchen item I've bought like ever! Definitely worth the investment.

Excellent trash can ... nice enough to keep under thenisalnd rather than trying to hide “the trash” under a sink, etc. I use this larger one for recycling- packaging has gotten so crazy but this is large enough - and small enough - to handle it effectively

Company is incredible. When my package was stolen off my doorstep, they immediately shipped another one and I’m so thankful. The garbage can is a great size and is extremely well made. Traps all smells until you open the lid. Plan to have this garbage can forever!

We recently purchased a 50L rectangular step can online from Simple Truth. It is of high quality materials and well constructed. We are germaphobes and disliked having to touch the door knob under the sink to dispose of trash. The can's lid closes automatically. It works great, and it's easy to change the bag. (Custom bags may be purchased). We highly recommend this step can.

Easy to open via foot operated pedal. Lid closes slowly but seals to keep bad smells inside. A side stop will hold the lid open for removing the inner plastic basket and replacing the plastic bad. The finish does not show fingerprints. It looks handsome sitting in our kitchen. Love it!
