That said, even when a bag contains smaller pieces, often the result of rough handling during shipping, you should still see strong burn times and even, consistent heat. Very large pieces can cause hot spots and uneven burns, which is why we aim for balanced mix, it&#39;s the key to consistent heat.<br />That said, our charcoal is made from invasive Acacia bushes, not trees. Acacia is denser than hickory or oak and burns hot and clean.
