It started quickly in a charcoal chimney. It burned evenly. We cooked breakfast for dinner and it turned out amazing.

I do enjoy using this lump coal. It works great for my needs,but can sometimes have a lot of smaller chunks that fall through my grates. It is especially great for ceramic grills or open fire cooking. Plus, the company has great community support which earns it that final star!

This charcoal also helps a problem in Africa called “bush encroachment,” which is an overgrowth of acacia trees, which threaten grasslands. So by buying this, everyone is actually helping the environment in Africa and helping their families consume less chemicals! Win win!

Pros: - the smoke flavor of acacia is nice, especially with chicken or fish. - not a lot of white smoke. - sustainable Cons: - leaves behind a ton of ash compared to other lump wood types like oak or hickory. - struggles to burn hot in a kamado. Other lump types do much better for high temp or maintaining temp.

I had no idea this was even a thing. I will say the black bags make it very hard to see how much charcoal is covering the bag when picking it up, watch your clothing! Overall happy with this product.

Heard about this charcoal last year on the competition BBQ trail. Several teams talked about how clean it burned and really liked they flavors. I decided to try it, and they were right. This charcoal burns clean and holds temperature very consistent even on a 5+ hour cook. Very little ash so clean up was a breeze as well. This will be my go-to charcoal from now on.

It was easy to start up and stayed hot the whole time we made our meat. I also loved the taste the charcoal gave the meat as well. The package was easy to open and I like the durability of the bag. Have been looking for a clean charcoal and feel as though I have finally found it. Lights quickly and love that it is sustainable. Offers an easy, not over the top smoky taste too. A bonus that this company is giving back to those in need too. It will be a staple at my next bbq.

They said they haven't smelt anything so tasty. We had to make extra for the neighbors. Hence THE HUGE bag, there was enough for everyone !! It was a hit !
