Not sure about the bad reviews but the one I bought starts and runs as advertised. I think some people are just stupid and don`t understand what the limitations for this size generator is, or they don`t know how a screwdriver works and shouldn`t own one let alone a generator.

I purchased one with plans to get another for back up power for the house during storm season. After setting it up I noticed the fuel meter didn't work no matter how much gas was in the tank. I emailed the manufacturer asking what my options are and got no response. Returned to the club next day and got the much better Predator 3500 from harbor freight. This is a toy compared to the predator inverter.

I purchased this generator a couple years ago. It runs remarkably well and will power both of my full size refrigerators, several lamps, a good size fan, and charge our phones. Like all small engines, if this unit is left for months with fuel in it without being run, the jet will get clogged and the motor will start to surge. This will require you to disassemble the carb and clean it so it can have a smooth idle again. I strongly suggest draining the fuel and draining the carb barrel when you are done using it to avoid disassembly of the carb. Otherwise, this unit exceeds my expectations and runs just as well as the Honda units for a fraction of the price. It is very quiet and reliable. In fact, they do not advertise that this unit has a Yamaha motor but I am 99% sure it does. The owners manual even recommends Yamalube oil. Highly recommend this generator

Great portable generator, very clean power it generates too. I can carry this to my mom's house during a power outage, get it running, and power a single circuit at a time perfectly. It's also very good on gas. Haven't tried the parallel feature, but that's something to consider too. Either run twice as long, or power twice as many things at once. It's not going to power a whole lot at once, if you want that you'll need to get a second one of these things or get a larger unit (but you'll lose the ability to carry this thing around easily).

I bought this in July 2021. I have used it 15-20 times in 6 months. It runs and starts good but now it surges while it idles and is very annoying. Called several times for help with this but never solved this issue. But no I would not buy this again.

We bought 2 generators to use them together or alone. Very nice that they came with the parallel kit. We are very happy with the performance. The handle and the wheels make them very easy to maneuver. One warning: The knot in the pull string needs to be bigger. Ours popped off third pull.

I only have 4 hours break in on the generators so I can't comment on the quality of it. The case quality isn't good. Just putting oil in them broke both of the the oil catches that sit under the oil fill port. The angle of the fill port is a bad design. Unless you pre-measure the amount of oil you are putting in, expect to make a mess filling it. I emailed support to ask about a shop manual and a parts diagram/list. I have given them over 2 weeks with no response. Other then a spark plug and maybe a replacement carb, good luck trying to find replacement parts for this unit without supports help.

Very poor design use caution when trying to start this generator if the Pull string slips out of my hand it will pull it through the side of the generator to the very bottom and then you have to disable the complete outside of the generator in order to get to the pool string again it breaks really easy going through the cheap plastic outside of the generator I would not recommend this for anybody to buy

I bought this to tailgate and it did not disappoint. It’s an easy start, very quiet unit that with it setting 20’ away it’s easy to have a normal conversation and hear the tv outdoors simultaneously. It easily ran my devices - pellet grill, tv and a few ancillary chargers without turning up the power. I appreciate the digital power usage and fuel gauges that can easily be read from a distance. Portability is easy and practical. Best of all this unit is affordable. About $200 less than similar units. I highly recommend this for tailgating, camping or other small usage duty.

I purchased this unit from Sams less than a year ago. When it works, it works very well - quiet and steady performance. However, now it cuts out after about 30 seconds of use for most applications (shop vac, leaf blower, dewalt grinder). Oddly, it still works for some things, like a drill. The voltage reads a steady 124 volts. I bought this to solve my power problems, not to cause me more headaches. This generator has some nice features, but if it doesn't produce power, it is useless. I'm generally happy with the merchandise I buy from Sams and I wonder about the quality of iPower equipment.
