I have used this unit now for 5 hours now ( 4 at 90% full load to "break it in" and test for load capability) and find it lives up to my expectations. It WILL carry "steady state" rated load ( compensated for altitude) an does so with reserve. The unit is very easy to start. I also like features like the retractable portage handle. Over all the unit is very well laid out. There are a few drawbacks: The owners manual appears to be for an older design unit. The digital display is hard to see in daylight and impossible in the sun. It does appear to have accurate readings. Its not as quiet as I expected but still acceptable...machinery is machinery and without a lot of additional sound proofing will make noise. Like most of the newer inverter units, while it will handle a short reasonable overload, it will not carry an overload like a conventional rotating field constant speed generator....but it does work at lower "starting loads" . I have not put an oscilloscope on it yet so not sure how close to a pure sine wave the output is. It will not start my small DeWalt portable compressor and not sure if that is electronic or just not strong enough to carry the starting load even with "head pressure" at 0 PSI. Overall I am well pleased with the quality and the performance especially for the price I was able to pay for it. Frankly the price was the deciding factor to this initial purchase. I have not compared it to the "name brand guys" but feel its a good unit and would not be surprised if it did equal much more expensive units without paying for the name....Yes I would recommend it to others if they understood its limitations.( which I suspect other brands would have also) Jerry

So far, so good!! Runs great, quiet, starts easily, provides great output and is easy to move around. As an ASE Master Mechanic I knew that the “Break In” procedure would determine just how long this thing will last. I took my time and to do a 3 hour Break In which included 3 Oil Changes. I’m a firm believer in synthetic oils, I refuse to use anything else however I did use the bottle of included oil for the very first start-up. I ran it 15 minutes without a load , slow idle , then drained the oil. The amount of Metal Shavings from machining the engine block was excessive. I knew that it would be this way, many Chinese made engines exhibit this. Filled it up with Synthetic for the 2nd break in run....1 hour with a light load applied (900 watts) during the last 30 minutes of the run. Drained oil , still some shavings(aluminum dust) in the bottom of my black oil catch pan. Refilled again with synthetic and ran it for 1 hour under a 1500 watt load. It worked flawlessly. After the 1 hour run, I drained it again, refilled it (just a Trace of aluminum dust in the drain pan) and now it’s good to go for extended use. Do this Break In procedure , use a quality synthetic oil, and this unit will serve you well.

I have always wanted a small Honda but didn't want to spend so many $$$. This little generator is loaded with features i have never seen. It always starts on 1st or 2nd pull. I'm thinking about buying another one for a backup or to hook up parallel for more wattage if needed.

I selected this brand of generator based on its features. I agree with Consumer's Report that a fuel gauge is important. The fuel gauge on this unit is very helpful. The digital display of output voltage is nice. I like the pull-out handle and the wheels for easier movement. So far, the unit has started easily. The labels are clear and useful. The only concern I have, so far, is the "missing" of the engine when running at slow speeds. When the load demand increases to high I don't notice much misfiring. I still hold in reserve my judgement about the longevity and durability but my limited use of the generator leaves me satisfied to this point.

I haven't had the chance to do a full evaluation of the unit yet as the front display panel is inoperable right out of the box (reason for 3 stars). On the plus side, customer service seems to be good and they offered to send a new panel to me or have me return the unit so they could do it. It started on the second pull and I tested it with my refrigerator (which is the main concern I had during a power outage), and it performed fine. I also believe the "Ultra-Quiet" description is a bit of a stretch. It's as loud as a lawn mower. Personally that doesn't fall under "Ultra Quiet" in my opinion. Nice retractable handle to pull it along. Good price overall and the an Inverter Generator is a must have if you are powering sensitive household items due to it's clean power.

It’s okay, not great. Did a slow break in prior to putting any load. Spark plug gap was way off right out of the box. Runs rough. Choke start was necessary after running for several hours and only stopped to refuel. Think I could have spent $400 better elsewhere.

Be careful what you need this Generator for. It is NOT the same as another major brands 2000W. In fact it is clearly weaker. For an emergency to keep a couple lights on or a freezer it will be sufficient, and is nice and quiet. However, I believe the working amps to be false when compared to a more expensive competitor. Reached out to manufacturer and also received no response. Disappointed.

I bought this had a hard time getting it started finally got it going ran about a total of an hour no problems . needed it the next sat still had problems starting then would run 5 to 10 min and would stall out. Started leaking oil everywhere. Had a hassle when i took it back. Wont buy something like this from sams. Again

It looked good and had all the best features and at the sale price was 1/4 the price of the Honda. When it arrived there was no damage to the box but when I opened it the cover was loose and the plastic piece under the oil filler was broken. It looked like it didn't fit properly and must have happened at the factory . Also the muffler exhaust did not line up with the hole in the rear guard. I decided I could live with that so I put in non-ethanol gas but I could never get it to start. Even tried starting fluid but no luck. Checked everything in the manual and called the number in the instructions. Technical support did call me back 5 days later after I had returned it. I think that it would have been a great unit if it had worked. I have 2 other generators but wanted a small one for the camper. I wasted several hours on this thing. The good part of the story is that Sams took it back at the store with no hassle (the nearest store is 100 miles from my home).

Bought three for me, mom, & son (one each). First one fuel gauge didn't work. Second wouldn't choose a consistent RPM under light load. Didn't mess with the third after 100% error rate with first two. Returned all three and have purchased predator 3500. Cost twice as much, but a generator that doesn't work isn't going to be helpful when a hurricane rolls in.
