With lower alcohol %, the mix of flavors can be enjoyed by straight sipping, as I prefer. Even enjoying the smell before the sip is not preceded by a harsh, pepper nose hit as in higher proofs. I am not a beginner to Bourbon, however I'm appreciating less (alcohol) is more enjoyment. So happy to have first experienced BH, '23 Thanksgiving in Newport, RI @ Fleming's steak house.

From the north country of Vermont along the Canadian border, where winters are long, dark and fridged. Irish whiskey flows through my veins as can be traced to my homeland in Cork Ireland what keeps me warm. On a recent business trip to Chicago in late summer, I strolled into a local recommended spot. They served a summer whiskey drink called the Hayden berry, came highly praised. Not my usual Irish on a single rock, I pulled long gulps on a hot summer day. Pleasantly surprised and refreshed I strolled along. In weeks to follow I found myself back in the north country of Vermont...with a bottle of Basil Hayden's in my locker and a secret recipe obtained through a covert phone conversation with a bar hand that shall remain nameless.

I was always a bourbon fan. A dear friend brought Basil Hayden to my dinner party and I became a disciple. It's the first bourbon I ever preferred straight. Now it's a permanent fixture on my bar rack. It takes a while to finish one glass because I tend to savor the sweet, mellow aftertaste longer than usual. It's something I never experienced in a whiskey until Basil Hayden. I enjoy it best each weekend watching the sunset from my back deck. Salute mia amici!

As a seasoned Scotch Drinker I am always in search of the next best thing outside of my stable Blue Label and Glenmorangie. Well this is as smooth and light on the pallet whiskey I've had in a long time. OK Ever. It's excellent and I would recommend having a bottle or two on reserve for those warm summer months. High proof but smooth on the finish makes this a must have.

Exploring bourbon in the UK is more challenging as we're limited in our choice. Had heard about this smooth bourbon from my local whisky dealer and he managed to get a bottle for me. First sip and I was converted. It has everything I want in a bourbon, complex, full of flavour and depth but wonderfully light. Am now spreading the word in UK and have given a bottle to all my close friends for Christmas! Absolutely wonderful!

This is my drink of choice and I love introducing it to friends. It is gratifying to see others enjoy this as much as I do. My son's future father-in-law has adopted this as his favorite drink of choice as well after a fun evening together. We will surely share lots of Basil Hayden at the wedding in July.

At my oldest son's birthday party yesterday, they poured me a glass over ice. I got involved with the party and the granddaughters and left the glass on the counter for 45 minutes. Started sipping it and BAM! Never had anything as smooth and tasty. WOW!

I tried it for the first time yesterday. My son in law set several bottles of bourbon out on the kitchen table for sampling. I kept going back to the Basil Hayden's bottle . I drink a lot of bourbon and I'll rank y'all's as one of the really good ones. I'm originally from Harlan, Ky. and I like good moonshine better than any liquor, though.

A friend bought me a bottle for Christmas...it is smooth going down...taste great....more friends love the smoothness...it is the only bourbon I drink without a mixer...taste woody and fruity...........................:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Have been a Crown guy for years, but tried my first Basil Hayden drink night before last. It was my first of several over the next two nights. Very smooth bourbon that is great by itself on the rocks or mixed in a cocktail like an Old Fashion. Will be buying a bottle for my cabinet and will be replacing Crown with it as my new favorite whiskey.
