Good heater

I just bought this yesterday and just of note.....you need a AAA battery that goes under the bottom of the heater to spark the pilot light, won't work without and it doesn't mention that anywhere on the outside of the box. You also need 4 "D" batteries to run the fan if you would use electricity. Too soon to rate the product itself, but wanted others to know this information.

I have been extremely happy for this product. It's very nice to have the 3 heat setting. Low gives plenty of heat great for longer periods of time, however having the medium setting will greatly help if you need more heat. I will use the highest setting usually to start with to get the room heated then switch back to low or medium.

I'm sure the heater works fine but its very frustrating reading to manual to discover I need to buy a seperate filter to use a bigger tank. This is marketed as if it is ready to go but doesn't include a necessary piece. I'd much rather them increase the price by $5 and include the filter instead of having to track one down.

This model (MH18B) has electronic ignition which requires a AAA battery (inserted into the bottom). HOWEVER, neither Energizer, Duracell or Sam's Club AAA alkaline batteries will work in it. It requires an odd foreign AAA battery with a broad negative base. The single AAA battery (alkaline) that comes with the heater is an Eiden brand (I think, it's hard to read) which has this broad base but I was unable to find anyone selling it. I will contact the Mr. Buddy people (1-855-663-0660) to see if they have a 'fix' for this problem. I suggest that any potential purchasers do the same. Without either (a) a 'fix' which allows a person to use standard AAA batteries or (b) a source for these special broad-negative-base AAA batteries, then once this Eiden AAA battery loses its charge, I will have Big Buddys which I can't ignite . . . and I bought six of them! If I can't obtain (a) or (b) then these heaters will have to be returned to my Sam's Club. I should have been informed, prior to purchase, that I was being offered heaters which might be unusable after a single AAA battery went dead.

Great heater that will be most useful when winter arrives and the power is out.

This has been great during our recent cold spell. Had to do some work on our truck, so having this helped a lot.

This product I purchased to hear my home and assumed it would be safe to run in the house all the time, it is not recommended for such usage.

This heater is great except the hose that came with it leaked gas the first time we used it! Had to go buy a $50 one from Lowe's so ended being a pretty expensive bundle.

Only lasted 4 months before all of the heater lines were full of oil from the 20# propane tank. Apparently the "optional" fuel filter is not an option but is a necessity.
