Excellent side for everyday meals

We have been using the Jellied Cranberry Sauce for generations. We do not save it for holidays, but enjoy it along with our everyday meals. It is a tasty side with all serving forms of chicken from fried to casseroles, pork, beef and vegetarian meals as well. There are always a couple of cans in my refrigerator to keep cold and handy. I suggest you don't save your advertising of this product for just major holidays as some people lack imagination for enhancing meals.

My secret meatball ingredient

I'm not a fan to eat plain Cranberry sauce (don't come for me) but my husband loves it and will only eat the Ocean Spray brand. It IS however what I use when I make my party meatballs. It adds the right tang and for Friendsgiving or any other party event I always have to bring them.

Bad Taste

I have purchased Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce for many years. Purchased 2 cans for Thanksgiving 2019 and, I'm sorry to say, it tasted awful. It had a bitter taste and the deep red color it has always had was much lighter. I was so disappointed and ended up throwing away most of the can. If Ocean Spray has changed their recipe, I will not purchase it again.

It's OK, but try their own brand. Read on...

Sure, this is a common but basic food staple. However, I tried last year Sam's own cranberry sauce with cranberries in it! OMG! It was to die for! I loved it so much I went back and bought several more packages (they come in 2 tubs per pkg). Unfortunately, they're available only seasonally: during November and December. However, as of today's date, they're not yet in the clubs. As soon as they are, I'm gonna grab several packages. Helpful FYI... I stored mine in the fridge, and they lasted for several months past the expiration date! I was eating the ones that said "best by February 2019" in October of this year, and they were perfectly fine. Therefore, as long as you don't open the tubs, you can keep them refrigerated for a long time. Once you do open them, eat those that are past their expiration dates very quickly.

Won’t eat this

High fructose corn syrup! Here’s the facts: Usually, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) the molecule that provides energy to power all cell processes, is used and rapidly replaced from nutrient intake or fat stores. However, fructose lowers ATP concentration in cells and reduces the ability to make more ATP. When ATP levels drop enough, this sets off a series of chemical reactions that stop the mitochondriaTrusted Source of the cell from producing more ATP, and causes them oxidative stress. As well as causing ATP levels to drop, ingestion of fructose stimulates further food intake. These extra calories are then stored as fat. Eventually, the ATP levels increase again, but the stored fat remains. Over time, repeated oxidative stress leads to permanent mitochondrial dysfunction. In a hibernating mammal, the body adapts to the low ATP levels by reducing the resting metabolic rate.

I am 85 and have had this awesome sauce since early life. During all my lifetime, I have tried some other company's cranberry sauce and ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER COMPANY can even come close to this fantastic product. Never, ever, ever, change it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A holiday meal favorite that can make your everyday dinner seem special

A Thanksgiving staple at our table... Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry sauce is the perfect addition. It has a slight tart taste, it's not too sweetened with sugar and the texture is uniform snd not grainy as some generic brands can be. Don't just wait for a holiday, enjoy it with your next rotisserie chicken meal! You can't go wrong with anything Ocean Spray!

Hi Scooter, We do apologize that you can no longer eat the sauce. Cranberries are naturally low in sugar and require sweetening for consumers to enjoy the taste and reap the benefits. There is no scientific evidence that suggests high fructose corn syrup acts differently in the body than any other sweetener. Based on consumer request, we removed high fructose corn syrup from our juices and juice drinks several years ago, replacing it with cane or beet sugar. However, high fructose corn syrup remains the best sweetener for our cranberry sauces and its continued use allows us to provide the quality product you expect from us.
