Mixed bag but good overall

I got this as a gift to replace an older Garmin watch. I like a lot about it, the screen, the watch face options, the notifications, it measures steps and many types of exercise well. It does. It measure steps climbed which was a surprise but not a big deal. I have concerns with its stress, variable heart rate, and body battery measurements. They don’t match my experience. It often shows stress while I am asleep. There is a chance this is off because the first two weeks of wearing it were on break from work and so what it took as normal wasn’t but we have been back for two weeks and it hasn’t adjusted yet. I am going to give it a couple more weeks and if they don’t adjust I will just hide all those measurements and ignore them.

Love my Garmin

I'm not a runner but I have started walking and exercising for my health. I never felt like my Apple Watch tracked my watches properly so after a lot of research, I decided to give Garmin a try. I absolutely LOVE it! I love that it gives me a bigger picture of my health, tracks my sleep, and the battery life is AMAZING! I

Great watch, great value!

I was looking for a watch that I didn't have to charge everyday! The 11 day battery life is perfect for me and works just as advertised. The app is so easy to use, with sleep score and other customizable info. Size of watch is perfect as well. Will continue to buy Garmin in the future.

Upgraded interface is fast

I like the vivoactive series of watches having and used them for many years. The 5 is more compact and I like the faster access to information along with the added health reminders. The screen is a welcome upgrade its always clear and easy to see. The Connect app still integrates my bike computer, HR band and watch.

Very useful health tracking

I've been thinking about a Garmin watch for several months and finally purchased one approximately a month ago. Took a bit of time to get used to the various features, and I'm enjoying this quite a bit. My main motivation for purchase was the health items (HRV, sleep), but the fitness functions have galvanized me to begin a regular exercise program. Overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase (sale price certainly helped); I've taken one star off because this didn't come with an adaptor for the charging cord, forcing me to hunt around for a way to charge tech watch & ultimately lead me to purchase an adaptor.

Hate it!!!

Battery life is not as good as my last one, won't stop disconnecting from phone and the button to turn off alarms takes 7 to 10 times to make it stop. Even though there are buttons almost everything is done on the face which I hate. I have Tremors and it really makes it hard to use. I loved my last Carmen because the battery lasted 10 days and I could use the buttons to get through menus but not with this one. Seriously rethinking garmin.

Battery Life and Graphics

Nice improvement on the Vivoactive 4. The battery life improvement is much better than I expected and the graphics and displays are significant improvements over the prior versions the 3&4. The interface and experience of this new device are great!

Love the display

I bought the VivoActive 5 about a month ago after wearing a VivoActive 3 for several years. The brighter, sharper display is amazing. I also like the much longer battery life. I don’t use for cycling since I have a Garmin bike computer. I will use for kayaking but the local lakes have about a foot of ice at the moment. For us northerners, it would be nice to have a snow shoveling activity but I suppose I could use hike. I use the “Glance” watch face which shows all the numbers I am interested in.

I like it so far, but little things annoy me

I really like this watch. I came from an apple watch so the battery life is IMPECCABLE. I love not having a dead battery after 10-12 hours. However, the watch itself feels light and cheap. My main annoyance is that you cannot flip the screen so the buttons are operable from the opposite side. It would be so much easier to press the buttons with my thumb as I have wrist issues so getting my pointer or middle finger in the right angle is a challenge. If I could flip the watch face and have the buttons on my shoulder side instead of the hand side it would be a gamechanger.

Has most everything I want

I got this for Christmas - I was looking for a smartwatch to help me focus more on my running and overall health. I like most of the features, but the learning curve is a bit steep coming from an AppleWatch. I’m only disappointed that I can’t get my watch to show me text notifications. I’ve followed guides on the forums and other places (Reddit, Google, etc.), but it won’t work. Otherwise, it is perfect. I am more consistent with my workouts than before. I love the running training plans. I love being able to track my stress and sleep. I don’t think the step counter is too accurate or that the stress measure is accurate, but they’re good generally. Great watch! Exceeds expectations.
