One of the Best

After extensive research my wife and I purchased the Garmin Vivoactive 5. It's now been a of couple months wearing them 24/7 and we are extremely pleased! The watch is a precision instrument that reliably measures so many body metrics as well as fun things like the weather, emails and text messages, that you can also respond to. The brilliant display is absolutely beautiful and battery life is stellar. We charge once a week on Sunday mornings and there is always 30% or more charge left so the manufacturer's claim of up to 11 days is pretty close. The GPS feature will drain the battery quicker, but that is only used on specific settings where distance and a tracking map is desired. We chose the Vivoactive 5 over the Garmin Venue 3 because it is thinner, lighter, and smaller, the soft band makes wearing it effortless. We did not need the microphone, speaker, and EKG feature on the Venue, also the heart rate sensor on the vivoactive 5, although not as elaborate as the Venue, is still state of the art and functions flawlessly. We are 100% glad we chose the vivoactive 5 over everything else we looked at. The health benefits of having this watch have been substantial for us. Being able to actually look at graphs and charts of sleep patterns, hydration, heart rate, stress, etc etc have given us great insight into adjusting our daily life. We really appreciate the technology, ease of use and the quality built-in by Garmin.

A really useful, casual daily tool

I’ve had this watch for about 3 weeks and it’s a HUGE upgrade from the Suunto watch I had been using previously. It’s intuitively designed, light (some reviewers have described it as “cheap” feeling, but I see this as a feature, not a bug), and it’s quite responsive to activity. I barely notice it when it’s on and it seems to track sleep and activity quite well. I gave it a 9 strictly because it doesn’t seem to hang too well in the water, and I’d love to see a surf activity added, but it’s not a deal breaker. Also, the strength training mode is a little wonky, but there are workarounds for that. Overall, great experience so far, and I’m definitely happy I opted for this low profile, fitness focused watch in place of an Apple Watch. If you’re looking for something more triathlon or sport focused I’d upgrade to one of Garmin’s more premium watches but for daily wear I’m very happy with it!

Unbelievable Watch

I have had the Vivoactive 5, now for 8 months. The features are outstanding. The amount of information that is displayed on the face is incredible. Being able to check my oxygen level has gotten enabled me of get rid of my handheld unit. Having A-Fib, the ability to watch my pulse rate keeps me from over doing it and know when to rest. I could go on and on about the features but could not do the unit justice. After doing my research, Garmin was the one to buy. The only feature that I wished this unit had would be a blood glucose monitor. I wish there was some way to download an Sofware update. So far, the only problem is the charging port on the back of the unit. The charging port sometimes does to make good contact with the charging plug. This is noted on the display with shows when the unit is charging. I have ordered a new charging cord; in the hope it is the charging plug and not the watch. The unit has to have a rubber plug to cover the watch charging port, I believe Garmin should have included that plug with the unit. Of course, all the extras can be purchase online. All said and done, the Vivoactive 5 is well worth the purchase price.

Garmin Vivoactive

Its a great watch and I really like it. My only qualm is that it is difficult to get it to display the seconds on the watch face. As someone who needs to take vitals this makes things difficult. I do not use this watch on shift for this reason, but its great for runs and general health tracking.

Good Watch But Buggy

This is my 5th Garmin watch and all was well until this weekend when a bug in the software (not sure if it's the watch or the Garmin Connect App) meant the only way I could get back in action was too completely wipe all my data. I've lost 3 years of stats. Besides that, the watch is good value for money. Great features, decent battery life and is comfortable.

I love this fitness watch!

If you're a novice to to fitness watches, this Garmen does everything you need it to from tracking your training drills to understanding your sleep patterns. The only downside was I didn't love the face options and ended up having to pay for one that worked for me. 2 thumbs up on this watch!

Perfect for the non-jackrabbit

From 2015 to Feb 2024 I was content to use my vivofit ONE + 2015 cardioband for everything: cycling (HR), rucking for colorado training (HR) and measuring hikes in colorado (steps+HR). Now that I've had a chance to incorporate the Vactive5 into my routine I'm hooked and have found the "body battery" to be very good to allow me to judge when it's time to dial back a bit on intensity. I'm still doing the same workouts, however with the GPS function on Vactive5 I now have data on the rucking (stair climbing with a 55#, i.e., 1/3 bodyweight) pack) workouts and can put everything into Intervals.icu.

Great Health and Fitness Tracker

I purchased the vivoactive 5 about a month ago. As a cyclist preparing for competitive events, I wanted to record all my health and fitness parameters necessary to track my performance improvements. It has given me everything I was looking for and even gave me a bonus with the capability to use it for golf.

Much to offer

This is my first watch used to track fitness. I saw a friend and asked her about hers and decided to get the Vivioactive 5. I am imprpressed with the features and how easy it is to operate. I use it for high intensity interval training, yoga, walking and have tried to use it for kayaking. I did not see that as an activity and have substituted Rowing instead. I would love to see kayak as an activity! I like the feature that allows you to monitor your heart rate while doing an activity.
