Unbelievable drop in quality

Bought because of the two units I bought from Sam's several years ago. Comparing these two, this new one is crap! So disappointed in quality and design.

Won't allow ordering.

For some reason Sam's will not let me order these anymore. Not sure if they've just stopped supplying them to the East Coast or what. Theyve removed it from the app but I found a link that says in stock. But my order gets cancelled 😢

Not the same quality as sold previously.

All components and details on the current model in stores are more poorly designed and constructed of flimsier material than on the similar shelving units sold a few years ago. I do not recommend buying these until an upgrade is made. The horizontal supports for shelf boards are thin and flexible. The shelves are too small for a secure fit. The vertical bar pieces stack together very tenuously. And the pin-and-keyhole connections to join horizontal and vertical components are poor fits. Sam’s Club should consider recalling these and restocking with better quality.

Worst Purchase Ever!!!

DO NOT BUY!!! Bought 2 sets of these shelves at my local Sam's Club. Had two major problems with them: 1) These shelves are built in two sections, stacked one on top of the other. The shelf supports are installed to connect the two sections. As you can see in the photos, the corner pieces that stack on top of each other are VERY thin so there's no real support. The slightest bump would knock the upper section off, even with them being connected. This was too dangerous for me so I chose to keep the sections separate, making 2 short racks with 3 shelves each. Not what I wanted but at least it won't come crashing down. Note: one of the pictures from the website shows the supports as being tapered to make them more interlocking. That's not what I got. Don't know if it would have solved the problem, but I wouldn't take the chance. 2) In one of the sets I purchased, 4 of the 6 shelves were cut too short, both length and width. This makes them completely unusable as the shelves are too small to fit on their supports.

Not safe

I purchased 3 of them, the price was the biggest driver for me. Upon receiving the shelves, the assembly was easy for the bottom part, but the top portion of the shelf is totally unsafe. 1 - Instructions say to just place the second half on top of the other, but there is no way to secure the two. 2 - the shelves are about 5/16" of an inch thick, the side rails are taller than the shelf, which make it difficult to remove items from the shelf without dragging the edge/rails off in the process. 3 - the shelves are not meant to be self standing, you will need to attach them to a wall and secure in place. I have made some adjustments and spent $40 extra to make my three shelves safe in my garage.

Sort of strong

I assumed this was comparable to a Muscle Rack at a great price. Got it home, and disappointed it is not nearly as beefy. The cross bars actually fold over a bit as we slide boxes onto the shelves. If we were storing heavier things, I would go through the trouble of returning it.

The Decline of Great Shelving!

I have been buying these shelves for for twenty years. Every time I buy them they are made cheaper and less sturdy than the last time. Just when I think they cannot use any less metal in the manufacture of these, they prove me wrong. You no longer need a rubber mallet to assemble them as they now fall together as well as fall apart when you try to move them. Come on Sam's, how much profit do you need to make! Look for better shelves elsewhere.

Not as described/pictured; don't buy at full price

Top & bottom uprights do NOT interlock as pictured; all 8 pieces are identical & merely rest on top of each other. One shelf/bracket set must be used to hold them together; should have couplings instead for stability. Difficult to assemble top & bottom by yourself, but can be done. Also, not "hidden slot-post design" as stated in ad copy. No 8 plastic end caps as stated in instructions, either. Bought 2 units at $44.95 (each) one-day sale price; arrived by FedEx undamaged

Poor Quality

I have bought similar shelves to this over the last 10 years from Sams. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of my most recent purchase of this item. It took me an excessive amount of time to assemble this unit due to the fact that the rivets will not seat into the grooves and they keep popping out even after getting multiple layers in place. It appears that you can still get the better quality shelves, but they are only offered online. I thought they were still carrying the good quality in store. Spend the extra money and get the muscle rack!

Cheap nightmare

They're a nightmare to put together because the connections keep coming loose whenever you move the thing. They come loose even after it's fully built! Just moving the shelves a little makes them come loose. The second set of shelves that goes on top just sits on top of the first set without any strong bracket to keep them there, which leads me to believe they can easily bend and injure me. The vertical supports bend easily. Nothing about it gives me the confidence that it can hold more than maybe 100 pounds each shelf max.
