Good unit good price

I have several of these shelving units and are very happy with them. Strong and easy to assemble. I found a rubber mallet helps a great deal during assembly. This was also the first time I had bought something online and had it delivered. That was painless, will consider Sam's when online shopping in future.

A little work, a lot of convenience

Went together with minimal work. Getting the two sections to fit together securely took a little but it finally became one piece and is sturdy enough to hold empty canning jars, bottled water, liquid laundry detergent etc. It has really helped get my garage more organized and since things are more visible, I will have an easier time managing inventory.

Best value out there.

This is my 3rd purchase of these storage racks over a span of 5 years. Earlier ones are still in use in an unfinished basement and show no deterioration. The current ones are in a newly constructed metal garage and will be used for storage of lawn and garden supplies. They are very similar to ones offered elsewhere for double the price, so they are a great bargain. That accounts for the 5 stars. However the shelf supports themselves seemed a bit more flimsy than in the past. But the standards and shelves seem to be the same gauge as before. It's good to have a helper when assembling them, especially when placing the top section in place. Small price to pay for such a fine value.

Storage Rack

Unit was difficult to build following instructions, although may have worked if two people assembled it. I built the upper section on top of the lower section. Four of the six shelves had slight damage. Since it is in the garage, that didn't bother me. Seems sturdy now that is built but I am going to buy furniture anchors to hold it securely against the wall. Be aware that the top section can only have two shelves, so all shelves cannot be evenly spaced.

Just OK, but a great bargain.

I was so excited when I found these on the web site. Price was phenomenal, delivery was FREE (this is a big deal as I live in remote Wyoming), the specifications were great and they were in stock..... so why am I giving these only three stars?... 1-They have a really dumb design that makes them horrible to build with one person and almost reasonable to build with two people. It would have cost maybe a buck per unit to fix the dumb design. 2- I have 40 to 175 lbs per shelve. The units are rated at 600 lbs per shelf and 3600 lbs per unit. While I would be comfortable in putting 1200 lbs per unit, there is no way that I would try to put anywhere near 3600 lbs on these thing. These are just OK for home use. 3 - If you want to move these from one house to another (Maybe even from one room to another), plan on taking them completely apart. Because of their design, they tend to fall apart if they are not kept perfectly flat and stable. Again, an extra dollar in hardware would have solved this problem.

Connections

Pros solid plastic shelving vs composite wood- Cons Connection of the top and bottom not very easy to connect top to bottom vertical members. One laps over the other and the shelf bracket holds the two together other shelving units have connection bracket allowing you to put the middle shelf other than in the center of the shelf.

A perfect example of degrading quality.

These shelves are a decent value and do exactly what they are supposed to do. However they are also the worst z-rail shelves I've ever owned. The #1 problem is you don't assemble these with a rubber mallet. The pins just fall in the groves with no friction at all. So you can't build it on it's side without it just falling apart. You have to tape all the pieces together. Even standing up if you bump anything before the boards are placed the elements just jump out onto the floor. At 86" inches tall these would seem to be the tallest of the "7 foot tall" shelves and therefore the best value. In reality the bottom end of the column angles are missing 2 holes and so it actually has one hole less storage space than an 84" tall rack. Yes, bottom shelf sits some 4" off the floor, that's where the lost space went. Member's Mark, in their pursuit of cost reduction, made the z-rails out of (even) thinner metal and compensated by making the z-rail taller. A valid engineering trade off except the thicker shelf unit means less storage space between shelves. And finally, one thing I really dislike about these shelves is that the metal edges of the rails stick up above the top of each shelf all the way around. This means you can not slide things like boxes off the front of the shelves, the front of the box has to be lifted up vertically to clear the shelf rail before it can be pulled out. Probably a great feature if these were in the engine room of a boat, not so great in your garage. The photo you see of this rack is not the actual product. It is a previous version of the rack with the narrower z-rails made of thicker metal and providing more storage space. All together I wish I had spent more money on a nicer product.

Good storage, nightmare assembly

SO hard to put together. I think you should have 3 people to put it together. As so as you get one side put together, the other side falls apart. Many strong words were used. It took my husband and I an hour to assemble and we’re handy - we remodeled an entire kitchen, so we’re not rookies. Once it was together, I assume it’ll hold everything as advertised. It works, but I won’t buy another one.

storage

Husband put it together, no problem. Perfect for taking advantage of vertical space internet garage for accessible storage. We looked at other units that would hold more weight with one less shelf, but preferred the additional shelf vs. weight limit.

Don't buy!!!

Don't buy these. Hard to put together. Not sturdy or nice too look at. I would return these but since they are assembled I will keep them. The Member's Mark 5 shelf storage is a much much better shelf, easier to put together, looks better and well worth the extra $20.
