Terrible

This shelving was extremely difficult to assemble. It kept falling apart and hitting me. Using tape, I was able to assemble the bottom before the challenging top section. I assembled it using self drilling screws and that worked great. I would never buy this product again.

Go with the next level up for storage racks

Would not go with this rack ever again. VERY difficult to put together, as the rivets fit too loosely into the posts even after tapping them in. So, the thing falls apart as you put it together. Also, the short beams do not fit securely onto the long beam. There is a similar item that is about $20 more that I bought as well, and it is MUCH better. Everything fit well, and I put it together in no time. Only problem is that it is not as wide as this rack and is deeper, so the dimensions are not as good as I wanted, which was the reason for this rack.

good price, but...

I have purchased many shelving racks over the years, cannot recommend this one. The slots and braces really do not "lock" together and make the unit unstable in my opinion. Almost impossible for one person to put together because the the braces keep falling out.

Unbeatable value, but not heavy duty

These shelving units are not as robust as the similarly sized units I bought from Sams over a decade ago, but they serve the sam purpose and are a great value. I do think that because of the lighter material of the shelves/cross pieces that the structural integtriy of these units is more suseptible to damage and if one brace were damaged or popped out of place the entire shelf could collapse - so I would advise caution and put heavier loads near the bottom. Otherwise theses shelves are an unbeatable value for the price I paid.

pain to put together but, worth it.

Cussed a lot putting this together, it should really be done with 2 people as the cross members kept coming loose as I was trying to lift the top section on. I am not sure I would put 600lbs on each shelf, that being said, I like the shelves and am very happy with the purchase. 84" tall is awesome.

Buy with caution; Not well designed

Difficult to put together because the supports and shelves don't stay together while you're assembling it. The are constantly coming apart while you're trying to connect the other supports. Also it seems VERY DANGEROUS in the way it's designed...especially the top part connecting to the bottom half. I'm going to improvise and secure the unit using my own design, otherwise it's a hazard waiting to happen!

Save Thousands with a Little Extra Work

Our company saved over $2,000 when it purchased 23 racks for our parts room. The Sam's racks are less than the ones we considered from their competitor because they are not as sturdy but this a difference our employees easily and inexpensively solved. To strengthen Sam's racks our employees installed 1" by 2" boards on the sides of three shelves and attached the boards to the uprights with a metal to wood screws The boards were installed on both sides of the bottom shelf, the shelf that connects the upper and lower sections, and the top shelf. These boards provided the frame support the racks needed, locked the three shelves in place, squared the rack, and the upper and lower section are securely fastened together. After the selves were assembled and braced, they were installed in six rows and all of the racks were attached to each other and to a rear wall. The top of the rear upright was attached to the wall with a screw and a 1" by 2" board was installed between the uprights at the back or the rack. This rear board was installed in about the middle of the rack and it was attached to both the uprights and the rear wall. With a few hours of extra labor and about $50.00 in parts for screws and wood, our company saved thousands and the Sam's racks are now stronger than the higher priced ones from their competitor.

Super heavy duty shelf

I bought this about 1 month ago to store very heavy items. It does the job perfectly. Very stable, heavy duty and easy to assemble.

Spend more to upgrade

Price is good. Difficult to put together especially if you follow the instructions of the second tier.
