Cheap, poorly designed handle on bucket

The handle on the bucket is junk made of brittle plastic and is poorly designed. First some cover piece that goes over the top of the bucket snapped off, as in broke at its connections. That piece wasn't necessary for operations, so I set it aside. The other day. I pulled the bucket to dump water in the sink and the entire handle slips out, so the full bucket drops to the floor. 50 gallons of water all over the cellar floor and a couple of rugs. Great. The handle simply slips in, not very tightly, between two holes and upon close examination it was easy to see that it would be prone to failure. Fixed the problem by drilling through the ends of the handle and cable-tying the handle in place atop the bucket. Yes, I could run a hose to the back, but I would rather use the bucket because I don't want the thing running 24/7, and don't want to have to remember to check it. Other than that, it's quite effective in removing dampness.

Clean Air

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this less than a week ago. Following manufacturers instructions it was left running on factory settings for four complete days and literally collected 50 pints of water. I'm so pleased with the air quality. I would highly recommend this product for anyone allergic to mold spores and has excess air humidity.

Frigidaire 50 pint dehumidifier

This 50 pint frigidaire dehumidifier does its job for a 550 sq. ft. basement. It is easy to dump the water when filled after 18 hrs. of use. It has a light that comes on to tell you when to clean the filter which is easy to reach & replace, all you have to do is run water over the filter leave it dry then reinstall. In June I noticed an oder do to high humidity. I new I had to buy a dehumidifier I searched on line for all types of dehumidifiers even went to home centers in my area. I didn't know which type to buy. I new if the dehumidifier would not work it would be easy to return it to my local Walmart store without any problems. I looked on line at Walmart.com because it was cheaper purchased the dehumidifer, a few days later it came to my local store where I picked it up.

Easy to set up and use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using my dehumidifier for over a month, I was surprised how much moisture was being pulled out of the air. I have a small house and one unit seems to be sufficient sometimes I keep it in the bedroom and run during the day and other times I have it in the living room and run it at night. I haven't seen any significant change in my electric bill from running it. I think it will be most helpful in the spring season when the AC is not required.

Very Quiet and Works Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace an old unit that quit working. It is very quiet when running and really brought down the humidity fast. I also like that you can attach a garden hose to the drain tank so you can run it continuously if needed.

Great dehumidification, but cannot autoregulate

This review is for the 50 pint. Purchased in June of 2019. The best pros about this unit I find, is: It dehumidifies excellently. And it doesnt' rumble and rattle loudly like the old school humidifiers of the 80s or 90s. The strange con is: Frigidaire designed the control panel to feature auto-regulation of the humidity level percentage. (in other words, that you can set/enter the humidity level that you want the unit to maintain the room at). But, bizarrely, this is absolutely a non-functioning feature. A falsely listed feature, so to say. This unit is not, in fact, capable of auto regulating to the humidity setting entered by the user. The only way it will turn off/stop running, is if the bucket is full, or if it is manually turned off. I would be curious to hear Frigidaire's explanation of why they incorporated a false / non functioning feature into the control panel. The timer setting works, as far as if you want to set the unit to turn on and off at certain intervals of time. But that's the only user controlled pre-setting ability that works. My last comment is that the bucket removal is not smooth. It will require fenagling every time. Engineering design for the bucket removal could have definitely been way better.

I like this dehumidifier

It removes excess moisture from our home w/o excessive noise or foul odors. I had purchased another brand dehumidifier that expelled an unpleasant odor for weeks, so I returned it and bought the Frigidaire. I keeps my home humidity around 50%. My tip for buying a dehumidifier: Unless you live in a 4,000 sq huge home with a very damp basement, don't buy a big 70 pint dehumidifier. You probably don't need it. I live in a very damp coastal area, don't have air conditioning, but find this 50 pint unit more than adequate. I used to own a 70 pint unit which eventually wore out after many years of use. I only needed to empty the bucket every one to three weeks even when the weather was very damp. The 50 pint is still more than I actually need, but I wanted to get one with a built-in humidistat, so that's why I bought the 50 pint unit. It's smaller and more portable than 70 pint unit. I would never buy a dehumidifier w/o a built-in humidistat. I want to know the % of humidity in my home at all times.

Worked for a whole month

Initially appeared to be a good product. Quiet, easy to empty basket. Seemed to do the job well. Product quit working after one month, would run but quit collecting water. Luckily I was able to return it. This was my second Frigidaire dehumidifier, first one worked for about 2 years. Won't buy this brand again. Don't know why Consumers Reports recommends them.

Hi, Morristownnj! We thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, and bringing your concerns to our attention. Once the humidity setting is chosen, the dehumidifier will run until it reaches the setting chosen; which will depend on the humidity level in the area that it is located in. Once it does shut off, the fan may come back on to test the air, which may make it sound as if it’s running all the time. Should you need any immediate assistance, please reach out to us at 1-800-374-4432 Monday-Friday 8:30am-8pm EST at your convenience. Kindly, Ciara
