In the past week I have ordered 2 of these units to my local Columbus Fedex. On the first delivery, I noticed that the external cardboard box and the product box had been opened and resealed so I returned it directly to Walmart and then ordered another one online. A few days later it arrived at my Fedex. It too had been opened and resealed. Since I had bought Walmart's 3-year extended warranty on this I thought I would at least open the product box. I found the banding straps had been replaced that hold the unit while in shipment since the impressions from the first set of banding straps on the polystyrene were present. Further I found the remains of an earlier bag that contained the manual. Clearly this unit had been repackaged. Was it a return? Was it refurbished? Was it new? I plugged it in and it was DOA!!! The power would momentarily be on and then would go off. The ON/OFF button was inoperative. What is going on here? I would advise you to immediately return any box that has indications of being opened and resealed.

Purchased this 50 pint Frigidaire Dehumidifier on 5/14/13. Started it up on 5/22/13. The compressor stopped working on 6/21/13. Contacted Frigidaire on 6/27/13 and they offered to buy the unit back for the purchase price, less tax and shipping and I had to pay to ship it back to Frigidaire. Lost a lot of money on this bad unit. Frigidaire should recall all these units and fix the bad compressors at no cost to their customers. DO NOT BUY THIS DEHUMIDIFIER!!!!!!!

My experience similar to Grandview Resident on 6/28/2013 in that I clearly got a repackaged product. Original tape cut, staples removed and replaced with smaller ones, broken plastic foam shipping material inside. Carrier left it out in the rain unprotected so I had a soaking wet box, but product inside was ok because it was in a plastic bag, The machine itself is so far excellent. Quiet, good features, definitely recommend it. So-called "open-box" or refurbished items should be represented as such in the advertising. I complained to W-M and they made a price adjustment right away.

We bought this to do just exactly what it says it will do and I think it does. BUT...the entire time it is running, it is blowing HOT HOT air out of the fan which is AWFUL!!! We intended to use this in several rooms, just moving it to the rooms we are in at the time but you CANNOT stand to be in the room with it because it fills the room with HOT air! Our main reason for buying was to run in our bedroom at night to keep cool and have a dryer air quality since we live in a very hot and humid area but that is out of the question now. It is also very noisy!

Using this dehumidifier in a basement laundry area and it certainly makes a huge difference in the comfort level. Do wish that they would engineer a humidistat which would shut the blower off once the set humidity level is reached. Other manufacturers have been able to do that and it likely saves on power usage, but is especially nice to stop the noise of the blower. However, this unit is actually pretty quiet as a relative comparison regarding dehumidifiers. Happy with my purchase.

I live in a humid area and this year it has been especially wet, I also have 3 fish tanks . The musty smell in the apartment was getting to be to much for me. I was ashamed of it and worried visitors would notice . I found the Frigidaire ENERGY STAR 50-Pint Dehumidifier on Walmart .com and altho some of the reviews are not the best I bought it anyway. My confirmation said it would be at site to store for pick up in a week . To my surprise in two days it was here ready to pick up. Nothing to set up just plug it in and in 30 minutes I checked and had 1 cup of water. It is a little noisy , maybe because it is in the livingroom. But this morning when I got up the bucket was full and I could feel and smell the difference. I use the water to water the plants Bonus recycling opportunity. I am a happy girl. I will buy another one in a couple years.

I have only had it running for a short time, but it is working perfectly. Shuts off when it should and starts when it should. Does a great job of keeping the air clean & no smells (MI basement). I had a flood when the snow melted along with a lot of rain & of course mold, the mold is gone (had to spray for that) along with the smell. If it keeps running like it is so far what a great product. I did take out the extra insurance as the last product I had got recalled, had to send it back, not a Frigidaire.

After a couple of weeks running this in my basement I finally got around to seeing how it performed. I'm a retired engineer. I noticed that I didn't even get a bucket full of water out of it so I opened it up yesterday and noticed even though the compressor was running the evaporator coil was NOT getting cold. It goes back to my local Walmart today.

I was a little unsure after reading reviews, but this model is very good. It does everything I expected it to do and is quieter than other models I have owned. I really don't shop based on price, but the cost of this model is so low that it is definitely worth buying.

over the years I've owned at least 3 of these and they don't last more than 3 years the first one lasted 2 years, bought 2 more when it quit and one of them just went bad after 3 years. costing $199 I think over $60 a year is a little steep for what you get. gonna try another brand and see if my luck is any better
