Works perfectly

I live in a humid area and this year it has been especially wet, I also have 3 fish tanks . The musty smell in the apartment was getting to be to much for me. I was ashamed of it and worried visitors would notice . I found the Frigidaire ENERGY STAR 50-Pint Dehumidifier on Walmart .com and altho some of the reviews are not the best I bought it anyway. My confirmation said it would be at site to store for pick up in a week . To my surprise in two days it was here ready to pick up. Nothing to set up just plug it in and in 30 minutes I checked and had 1 cup of water. It is a little noisy , maybe because it is in the livingroom. But this morning when I got up the bucket was full and I could feel and smell the difference. I use the water to water the plants Bonus recycling opportunity. I am a happy girl. I will buy another one in a couple years.

nice sleek design and very quiet!!

We got this unit as replacement for our previous one that was recalled. It is a much sleeker and less bulky design. Great improvement over the previous design. Also runs very quietly. Lightweight and easy to move around. good price on this size unit. controls simple and easy to operate. It even tells you when the filter needs cleaned. I have many Frigidaire products and have had good luck with all of them.

Poor Warranty Fulfillment & Customer Service

Purchased in November of 2013. Began calling Frigidaire in July regarding issues (as others have reported) with the hygrometer / humidistat which does not turn the unit on or off properly for any given setting. If I wanted it to run all day and night I'd set it to "continuous". (It does remove moisture well if you just want run up and down stairs all day to turn it on and off manually...which sort of defeats the purpose of being able to set the relative humidity in the first place.) I've been in contact with their customer service three separate times awaiting either replacement or "buy back" and have not once received a call back, email, letter or any other form of contact. I suppose they no longer care about the reputation of their brand and they figure that most folks will drop the warranty matter before taking them to small claims court. A sorry state of affairs for a once reputable corporation. This unit is manufactured by Electrolux and branded as "Frigidaire". At this rate I'll never own or recommend another product by either company.

Excellent choice for the basement

We purchased a Frigidaire dehumidifier like this one 3.5 yrs ago for our finished basement with 3 sump pumps (so very damp) and it was such a good machine that we just purchased this same model (only newest version). The 2013 model still works effectively but now makes a racket when it automatically shuts off when the humidity level is achieved. We'll keep it in storage in case our basement ever floods and we need 2 machines going. The fan on high setting is annoying, but on low (preferred by us) you can watch TV without a problem. If you plan to connect a hose from the dehumidifier directly to your sump or drain, don't bother buying the model with the larger water tank (you don't use it). Does an excellent job removing dampness. We have a separate humidity gauge in the room and it matches whatever the dehumidifier is set to, so it really does dehumidify effectively.

2 Broke in Less than 1 year

I purchased this item from Walmart based on the high reviews. This is probably the WORST appliance I have ever owned. The first lasted around 4 months. It performed well for approx. 4 months of fairly light use, in a carpeted finished den in the lower level of my home. I would empty it every 3 or 4 days, then suddenly there was no water at all. It turned on and ran, the humidity level however stayed the same and no water came out. I should have returned it to Walmart, but I foolishly called Frigidaire because it was still under warranty. They sent me a new one, without taking the old one away. The new one lasted a bit longer, perhaps 8 months and just like the first, quit removing any water from the air. I called Frigidaire and they said they would not replace it again as it was now barely over the 1 year warranty. They do not repair them and it will cost me 40$ each to have a dump accept them because they contain freon and that has to be removed before recycling. I do not like to contribute to the landfills in this way and think that Frigidaire should not be allowed to sell large throw away appliances that they refuse to repair or even take away. This was a complete waste of money. Two hundred dollars for barely a year of service and now another $80 to dispose of it. Do not buy this product. To have 2 fail in the same way for no reason whatsoever, does not bode well. I hope Walmart will post this as it is a completely honest appraisal of a product which I purchased from them in good faith.

Nice Product

I purchased a 30-pint LG for around $300 at Home Depot. It was cheap, thin plastic handle, and noisy. Took it back within a few days. Then bought a Kenmore. This was worse. The display functions did not work properly, would not shut off when you removed the pan. This went back within the hour. Next I got online and read these reviews and had Walmart send this one to me. I received it within a few days. The price was fair and it works extremely well. Quiet, pulls out the water, has a strong plastic heavy duty bottom tray which is easy to remove. Have had it a few months and ran it continuously in the beginning. My electric went up abut $20. Currently, I've cut back on how much I run it, but plan on trying the hose to see how this works. I would recommend this to anyone. I am very pleased. I use it in my newly completed basement and the air feels nice and smells clean.

efficient but noisey

The dehumidifier does a good job of removing water from the air. Unfortunately, there is a constant whining noise when the dehumidifier is running. Several of our friends have mentioned how annoying this is. We will be returning the dehumidifier. Fan noise is to be expected, but we find the whining to be too much of a problem

Works good for me

Using this dehumidifier in a basement laundry area and it certainly makes a huge difference in the comfort level. Do wish that they would engineer a humidistat which would shut the blower off once the set humidity level is reached. Other manufacturers have been able to do that and it likely saves on power usage, but is especially nice to stop the noise of the blower. However, this unit is actually pretty quiet as a relative comparison regarding dehumidifiers. Happy with my purchase.

Hot Air

We bought this to do just exactly what it says it will do and I think it does. BUT...the entire time it is running, it is blowing HOT HOT air out of the fan which is AWFUL!!! We intended to use this in several rooms, just moving it to the rooms we are in at the time but you CANNOT stand to be in the room with it because it fills the room with HOT air! Our main reason for buying was to run in our bedroom at night to keep cool and have a dryer air quality since we live in a very hot and humid area but that is out of the question now. It is also very noisy!
