Quiet and powerful

I've just been using this dehumidifier for about two weeks. So far, it's been great. It's much quieter than my other Goldstar dehumidifier and pulls a ton of water. I don't use the hose feature yet because I want to see how much water it's pulling. It usually fills the 50 pint bucket in less than one day from my unfinished basement area. Great product so far, wonderful shipping service from Walmart.

Fairly quiet. Even when we think the weather is dry (low humidity), we find 50 pints of water collected every morning. We have a walk-out ranch home and the dehumidifier runs in the unfinished part of basement. Now we never have a damp smell in our finished family room.

Almost excellent

So far this has been the best Dehumidifier that I have owned (5). Got two of these after ours were affected by the massive recall. Controls are easy to use and read. It is the quietest of all and seems very efficient at pulling the moisture out of our basement. One minus is the hose hook-up: if the unit is ever so slightly tilted towards the front, the water does not flow out the hose but rather into the bucket. Easy enough to prevent, but an annoying design flaw.

Efficient and quiet

I replaced an earlier model Frigidaire dehumidifier. Even though it had worked flawlessly for the time that I owned it, there was a recall on it and it had to be rendered unusable. We use it in the basement to prevent moisture build up. Set up is easy, started pulling moisture out of the air immediately and runs quietly. I have a drain hose connected to it so I don't have to empty the reservoir constantly.

Well constructed, removes moisture well.

The only problem with the Frigidaire 50 pint dehumidifier is the compressor noise. There is a whine (or squeal). Frigidaire tells me that is normal for a high efficiency compressor. I returned the dehumidifier to the store. The noise could be heard all over the house.

Works great!

I am a first time buyer of a dehumidifier, and have owned this product for 10 days, and so far- it works well! It's pretty quiet for a unit this size. It's more quiet than my in-the-wall air conditioner. It came securely packaged, but I had a little difficulty getting it out of the box. I am petite and live alone. The instructions on the outside of the box states that it takes two people to remove it from the box. Unit has to be pulled up and out, and not lay box on its side. During the first few days, I emptied the bucket twice daily while operating it in the continuous mode for the first 5-6 days. I can't comment on the timer because I empty bucket a little before it reaches that point. To empty, I carefully remove bucket, slowly pour water in bathroom sink, pop canister back in, and unit starts working again. I refrain from using the handle to carry bucket because of some reviews about it breaking, and every 2-3 days I add a few drops of bleach to bucket after emptying for sanitation purposes. I'm so happy - now that the carpeting in my apartment feels dry again, not to mention the air smells fresher. What a relief - I'm not feeling that dampness under my bare feet and smelling musty odor. I could not believe the amount of moisture this unit draws out - but seeing is believing! It gets the job done for my entire (small) one bedroom apartment. Nonetheless, I won't throw out the box just yet . . . but in the meantime, I highly recommend this product! Thank you.

Very pleased. . .

Replaced a 25+ year old Kenmore unit with this about 1 month ago. It is much quieter, easier to move around, takes up less space in the unfinished basement. (approx. 1500 sq. ft) And its attractive, too. The water bucket is a bit awkward to remove and replace but it does have a built-in handle which is convenient. Have hooked it up to a hose so it drains itself into the sump pit and that is working very well. The humidistat works well but I did buy an inexpensive humidity meter to monitor the dehumidifier. If I set the dehumidifier for 65% humidity it seems to run excessively and the humidity monitor reads approx. 7-8% lower than the Frigidaire. So I keep the dehumidifier set at 70-75% and the basement averages 60-65% humidity and is comfortable with no musty odor. All in all, I'd recommend this unit but suggest buying a humidity meter as a monitoring companion.

Returned

Tried to order the 70 pint but it was out of stock in Michigan and on-line so I ordered the 50 pint begrudgingly. Literally 1 week after I picked up the 50 pint I received an email stating "you might also like this" and it was as 70 pint!!!!! Really?!?!?!? AND it was only $8 more in price. I just returned the 50 pint (which seemed to work fine) and picked up the 70 pint this morning. I'm sure I will receive another survey on that as well...so I'll let you know how I like the 70 pint at that point.

Unit working very good so far.

Unit is very quiet in basement as compared to a 10 year old unit that sound like an airplane is in the basement. Tank fills up quickly. Installed a hose and ran it through the garage to the outside driveway. No low drains in basement. So far it's working fine. Time will tell how long it last

Purchached the unit two weeks ago and it is working perfectly. Low noise is a pluss. It's being used in my 900sqft. basement and has been running 80% of the time. But the hummity has been higher that previous summers. A larger unit may have worked faster but not better. I had a bad moisture issue when I started the unit. All surfaces were damp to the touch. After running the unit on contious operation for three days the orders and moisture were under control. I drained the unit to my air-conditioner drain pump and it works as advisitered. Great unit for my application.
