excellent for a big space

I want to tried a big one for my basement witch is about 900 square feet. Then I may dry the air from the basement to the first floor. The machine work well. It drink lots of water soon, about one cup in 30 minutes when I start it. The sound is OK, but to my compact basement, sounds big. There is a little high whistle. Well, it seems some bigger to my little space, too. So I try to return it. The return process is so easy. I can't find another better place for shopping in such great value as Walmart.

50 pints a day collected in a small basement

I had a dehumidifier that I bought a couple of years ago and it would run for over a week before collecting 30 pints. With this Frigidaire 50-pint, I got 50 pints for five days in a row. Now I've settled in on a setting of 50% humidity and it keeps the basement nice and comfortable. I like to exercise down in my basement and its a lot more comfortable now. This unit really delivers the goods!!!

Works very well!

Unit removes humidity quickly in my 1000 sq foot basement. Basement is newer construction and dry even without unit. Just wanted to keep humidity down when the central air isn't needed. Does the job and moves the air. Shuts off when humidity level is reached. That feature is very nice. Only 2 complaints is the tank doesn't slide in and out of unit easy. Not a real problem. Other is tank rattles when not in just right. A piece of tape fixed rattle.

Good product

This dehumidifier is located in my basement. We have an old damp, but clean basement and with the spring thaw it was wetter then normal. We were in desperate need to bring the humidity down. This product keeps the basement at a comfortable humidity level. I don't know how it compared to the old one in electricity used. I hope to see a reduction in next months bill. :-)

So far, so good

I bought this for my dad's basement, after his old...old dehumidifier set-up. Quick shipping, excellent packing, easy to hook-up the drain hose, controlls are easy to use... and best of all... it works!! I have a 2 year old 70-pint model that is working well, so I hope the newer 50-pint model will too.

Out of the box and plugged in in 10 minutes. Used in a very large basement together with two 20" box fans. Basement does not have any evidence of moisture on walls or floor. However, basement has two ceiling vents that circulate airconditioning throughtout the entire house 24 hours a day. Consequently, the humidity is virtually the same upstairs and downstairs. But that means that if the outside humidity is 70% the basement humidity is 70%, less the amount of humidity the airconditioner removes from the air. When plugged in for the first time it registered 65% humidity. Outside humidity was about 65% also. Within 12 hours basement humidity was reduced to 55%. When the humidifier is set at a level below outside humidity it pulls out 3 gal of water every 12 hours that must be emptied in the basement laundry tub (hose to sump pump hole not connected)

Deserves the good reviews

I've only had this dehumidifier a week, but it lives up to all the good reviews. It's much quieter than my old LG (which died). It seems to cycle on and off much more intelligently as well. My biggest area of concern is with reliability. It seems that the dehumidifiers being manufactured these days aren't as reliable as they used to be. I've got my fingers crossed!

great product and definitely accomplishes job

Our basement was musty, wet and developing mold, we installed this dehumidifier and within several days, the walls were dry, we treated them with a solution and the basement is now dry, no more musty smells and healthy. We empty this wonderful item approximately once a day and the moisture it gathers is phenomenal. It is quiet, efficient and for the size and price, a marvelous buy. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking into a dehumidifier. It is very easy to empty and rolls to any space you desire very easily.

Very pleased. . .

Replaced a 25+ year old Kenmore unit with this about 1 month ago. It is much quieter, easier to move around, takes up less space in the unfinished basement. (approx. 1500 sq. ft) And its attractive, too. The water bucket is a bit awkward to remove and replace but it does have a built-in handle which is convenient. Have hooked it up to a hose so it drains itself into the sump pit and that is working very well. The humidistat works well but I did buy an inexpensive humidity meter to monitor the dehumidifier. If I set the dehumidifier for 65% humidity it seems to run excessively and the humidity monitor reads approx. 7-8% lower than the Frigidaire. So I keep the dehumidifier set at 70-75% and the basement averages 60-65% humidity and is comfortable with no musty odor. All in all, I'd recommend this unit but suggest buying a humidity meter as a monitoring companion.

great value

this was the second one I ordered because the first one was damaged when I opened the box. the box was crushed and pushed in. I do not know if Fed_ex or Walmart caused the problem. when I reordered it was here the next day. no problem with the return to Walmart. I am very happy with this dehumidifier.
