HAS NEVER MADE AN ERROR

Test printer, and I have many. The paper feed works great, no missfeeds. The ink has never smeared, as with other printers I've had. The service screen is easy to understand, and the printer is very quiet. I had to check it once to make sure it was printing, it's that quiet.

Much Better than my Previous Inkjet

This device replaced an USB-connected HP inkjet single function printer. The major selling point to me was the low cost per page in both monochrome and color. So far I've only printed on copy paper but have purchased both weight letter-size paper by Brother. The wireless setup was easy. Printing envelopes was easy using Word 2010. I won't use it for FAX as I no longer have a land line. Haven't tried ADP or duplex as I have a laser printer for that.

Mostly good, some puzzles

Comparison with old Canon mx300. Have used the Brother printer hardwired to the computer (W10) for about one month. Positives: print speed, hook up ease, ink economy, the Canon was very thirsty. Puzzles: getting the rear feeder to accept postcards, sometimes ok other times not, post cards work ok from the paper holder, the Canon would digest about anything it was fed; the Brother install cd loaded the install files but would not work, found and used files from the Brother website; terminating print jobs, the Canon had easy on-screen Canon control panel command , the Brother requires going into computer settings, suggest adding this feature to the Brother control panel; paper capacity, the Canon would hold about 1/2 ream, the Brother about an 8 mm stack, might be inconvenient for larger jobs. Color rendering seems a bit better with the Brother than the Canon. Overall a good unit, economical on ink, just a bit less user friendly than the Canon. Have not tried wireless printing or fax software. Have not attempted attaching to the Linux Mint laptop. Hope this is helpful.

Fine Printer

The print quality is very good, easy to set up on wireless system, ink usage is frugal, fax works out of the box. Only negative is the paper tray is over complicated and when printing envelopes the printer ejects the first one and prints the second one. Have not printed photos.

Why Haven't I Bought One of These Before???

I have bought a number of printers over the years but this is the first Brother printer that I've owned. I am totally impressed. I set this up as both a wired printer (company provided laptop prohibits wireless installation) and as a wireless. It was quick and easy. I easily direct prints from my own laptop, tablet and Android phone. At the same time, my wife is doing the same with her iPhone and iPad. Print quality is excellent. Depending on the size of the print, there may be a slight delay but it is not a consequence. The other thing that I noticed is that it does not use much ink at all yet the output is wonderful. I use this in my home office for both after hours work and personal use. If this printer is being used in a workplace, one of the other models with a higher capacity of paper might be preferable. For home use, this is without a doubt the best printer I've ever purchased.

Extended Ink levels and Scan works very well

I have had this machine 6 months and the ink levels show that I have used very little ink. Heavy printing May thru current month due to being an administrator of a golf league, but the levels have held up well. The scanning feature is very easy to use and very easy to paste into exiting files that I have to work with.

Brother printers RULE!

I had to replace my last brother printer and bought an HP oh bad idea, so I went on a search and found this Brother and it works great. It comes with the ink and works so easy, simple to use. Easy WIFI set up or wired and this printer will print super fast, makes great pictures and receives data very well, no waiting for it to recognize wireless devices. My devices recognize it and print great from phone, tablet, laptop the ink OMG the ink is so affordable. I really will never change brands if Brother keeps these printers affordable and the ink so long lasting.

Works Great.

Printer is loaded with more options than I need, however every thing I have used has performed perfectly. Text is great, wifi connection great, iPrint is great. What led be to purchase this printer is the ink savings and so far I am totally satisfied.

Great Home Office Machine- MFCJ985DW

This little workhorse is a great addition for a home office. It was easy to set-up (about 15 minutes total), it linked up with all devices seamlessly (computers, tablets and smart phones). Quality of the print is excellent for both color and b/w. Photo quality is also excellent for this type of machine. Scanning a breeze and resolution is great. Have not had opportunity to use the fax function, but considering I've owned three other Brother MFC's and all were exceptional in performance, I suspect this machine to meet my expectations.

Brother Wireless Home Printer

The machine has not set up on our HP system. the setup process for the wireless is on the verge of having my Microsoft certified nephew make the trip from Vermont to Virginia to attempt to enable the machine. we were taken off guard by this because we performed a lot of research before we bought the machine. our understanding of the setup of wireless was it being a easy to accomplish activity
