I have used Mac ... TurboTax for many years. Intuit keeps up with tax laws, simplifies data entries, and produces returns that are promptly accepted. I've had occasional difficulties but overall good results in preparing returns for myself and my family using Turbotax DVDs purchased locally. I hope getting the product directly from Intuit will eliminate pricing issues.

Only during final review of forms did I discover that 2016 TT failed to forward 2016 State tax paid in 2017. Fortunately, I discovered it during my final hard copy review, went back to my copy of TT 2016, recovered the information and entered it in the correct place. If I had not discovered this TT error I would have had to pay an additional $362 in Federal and $181 in State taxes.

I had to update my os to 10.11 el capitan for 2017 return and you now will require an update to 10.12 Sierra for 2018. My Mac will not update beyond el capitan, so if I want to keep using Turbo Tax, which I have all the way back to the turbo tax predesesor Mac & Tax, I will have to buy a new Mac. A new Mac would be nice but an expense I am not sure I want to incur at my age. Any chance you will allow el capitan work for 2018?

I love having info copied from last year so I don't forget any deductions. I give a LOT of discards to charities. The in-app calculator makes it so easy to itemize those donations. Love the feature at the end that assesses your audit risk. I think doing my taxes with TurboTax reduces my audit risk because it is so reliable. Never been audited.

Having used Turbotax for quite a few years the process is very consistent and thorough and predictable and quite flexible. Only a few items seem a bit curious: some deduction calculations and entries require going back to prior year filing and re-entering data rather than this year's package automatically pulling that in. If the software is smart enough to "know" where to get the data, it's a bit odd that it's not extracted already. Also noticed that working through a return more than once sometimes means re-entering the same data e.g. some 1099s for INT or DIVs for each individual in a joint filing - it defaults to the first person. Overall quite satisfied and comfortable with Turbotax.

Generally went well. There is a place to enter deductions from foreign earned income and the explanation is confusing. Then where you enter trips to the US, I thought that all income earned while in the US was considered, but apparently it is only when you were working (i.e., vacation time is not considered income earned in the US, at least that's my interpretation). The explanation was less than clear cut. One frustration was that as I was moving forward and back on the foreign income section, an incorrect foreign income amount appeared. I don't know where it came from and I couldn't get rid of it. I had to delete the file and start over. That wasn't good. A second issue was that as I was going back and forth, I suddenly seemed to be getting questions related to the Physical Presence Test, but I qualify under Bona Fide Residence. It didn't seem to cause a problem, but it was disconcerting. Cleaning up the foreign earned income section would be helpful.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and like your program. However this year I am very unhappy with state tax. The fee , reviewing and printing a file copy. In past years I could copy and file by mail.You charge extra for state tax program and force me to e-file and then you let me make copy. I am not able to see what I am filing. If this is very poor system will make me consider using a different tax program in future. I would appreciate your comments.

I have used TurboTax for over 20 years, and plan to use it for many more. Like the ease of use, auto population of items from prior year and from federal return to state returns. Step-by-step provides reassurance you aren't forgetting any needed or beneficial schedules. Quick to complete and easy to understand.

I've been doing my own taxes for over 30 years as a USA resident and using Turbo Tax program as long as it has been available. I'm generally happy with the software. I've had some complications over the years and, therefore, use the Premier version. However, my primary disappointment is the lack of details for individuals with foreign (i.e. Canadian) capital and investments.

Please be more explicit about loss carryovers--what was from prior year, what will be carried forward, and how carryovers affected tax. Also, needs to be more explicit about all options when W-2 is wrong. Final review should show carryover used, carried forward, and marginal tax rate, and special taxes assessed.
