TurboTax Problems that need fixing

I tried to efile another state return and got the message three times. "Please correct the following errors. The credit card Visa failed to be authorized for payment." I called my bank and there was nothing declined on my card. The fourth time my card finally worked but took an extra 25 minutes to get sent. I have better things with my time. Also TurboTax said I need to upgrade my Safari to 10.12 but I already am using Safari 11.0.3. Another issue for TurboTax to fix. Again not my problem but theirs.

Frequent Crashes

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years and I can say without hesitation that the 2017 edition (used in March/April 2018 to file Federal and Virginia returns) was horrible. Over a dozen crashes, especially when saving, had me wondering if the calculations are reliable, not just the software. Maybe it's time to pay the price of a pro to do our taxes if Intuit cannot provide a stable, reliable, and accurate TurboTax any more.

Still using TurboTax!

I have been using TurboTax for almost 20 years with very satisfied results. However, TurboTax Premier is now required to get the Capital Gains form, Schedule D. TurboTax tried this change from TurboTax Deluxe a few years ago and it brought a big backlash from TurboTax users. I don't recall seeing or hearing that they were trying this change again for the 2017 tax filing. Will there be another outcry from loyal TurboTax users this time?

Lots of problems this year!

1099-MISC kept opening a Schedule C form. With a 1099-Q form, when entering the amounts from boxes 1, 2 & 3, your software rounds off the numbers, then gives me an error when the numbers no longer add up - because of the rounding that you did!! Worst of all, when trying to import data from 'ItsDeductable', your own program, it wouldn't work. I finally found your own instructions to work around the issue. After all the trouble having to disable 'autofill', then clearing safari history and restarting, you still couldn't hit 'allow'. It would freeze up again. You actually have to hit 'always allow'. I'm very disappointed in your program this year, after being a loyal customer for something like 20 years. It's hard enough to do taxes these days, without you putting out a product that has even more issues I have to spend time to figure out. Very disappointed...

Generally Good

Something changed this year that prevented me from simply downloading/importing data from Its Deductible into my return on Turbo Tax. I didn't find this out until AFTER entering all of my charitable contributions into Its Deductible. I then had the pleasure of re-entering it all into Turbo Tax again when it wouldn't import. Bad Change!!!

Easy to use

For years, when TurboTax (TT) loads it is slow with boxes on the screen letting me know.... via little comments. Sigh. However, once loaded I LOVE it! sometimes I let it walk me thru things, especially when there have been changes in the tax laws. other years, I just go straight to data entry mode for those things that I have already received. It helps me to look for more deductions which might save me from paying or get me a larger refund. my goal every year is to know as soon as I can whether or not I have to pay and how much, or whether I will get a refund... and can file before the 15th! Am wondering how it will help me next year... when the tax laws simplify, but who knows, probably will be a big help. It does ALL the MATH!

best tax filing!

I've used since 1994. Did in-laws taxes and ours. Have never had any issues, nor any audits. In addition to the usual job income, it has covered rental properties, horse business, personal small business, investments - very easy to use. I appreciate having TurboTax furnish the tax expertise that even IRS agents don't understand!

Better than before

I am a retired tax lawyer and cpa. I heartily endorse TurboTax and have used it for over 20 years. Each year's program becomes easier to use. However, if you download brokerage information and later obtain revised information, corrections via "override" prevent e-filing. This year I also noticed an easier input of amortization of tax exempt bond premium.

Issue if you have a nominee for Capital Gains

I invest with my sister and when I sell a security, I have to override the Schedule D capital gains because it doesn't allow for a nominee. Schedule B dividends and capital gains allow for a nominee. Tee Schedule D capital gains overrides do not carry forward to the state return, even though it is very obvious if you look at the state return that they should. Missed this last year, so now I have to file an amended return. I know there is something wrong with Nondividend distributions on Schedule B when there is a nominee. I don't know what the heck is going on. I have to be the expert on this and that is why I bought the software.

Adequate but could be better

I've used TurboTax for several years with general success, but it is far more painful than necessary the last few years. I got stuck needing to go into forms to fix random errors that appeared when doing my Federal return. And for my Utah State return, it was so basic that it didn't know that I had just received a federal credit for installing solar panels and didn't automatically ask me about the credit for Utah! Fortunately, I knew what the credit was and was able to enter it into my state return. TurboTax could be so much better by providing better explanations, for example,of why a credit may not be available.
