I've been using TT for a number of years, and each year it seems to get better and more comprehensive. However, while I prefer to use the guided approach, when you go back to review an area, it forgets all your prior answers, and you have to click through radio buttons and checkboxes again. Seems like something that could be corrected.

"Net Proceeds" from the sale of a second home as reported on Form 1099-S cannot be entered as indicated if the cap gains (loss) is to be calculated correctly, because the cost basis (even excluding improvements) may be (and most likely will be) more than the net proceeds, resulting in a net loss being calculated instead of a gain. For example, my net proceeds on the 1099-S were $59,000 on a gross sale price of $118,000 but my cost 4 years earlier was $64,500. When this data was entered the result was a loss. So I was prompted by your program to upgrade to the Premier edition instead of using just Deluxe, since Premier would supposedly handle investments better. Unfortunately this was not the case -- there was no difference at all between Deluxe and Premier regarding this problem. So to correct the problem I had to enter my actual net proceeds of $118,000 less closing costs of about $7,000 & then enter the improvements I had made, which correctly resulted in a net long term gain.

This was the first time I have ever used TurboTax and filed my taxes without an accountant. This experience was much more user-friendly than I had anticipated. There were questions that it proposed that my expensive accountant never even asked. I felt like this process made me more knowledgeable about this process, which I think is important for everyone to experience. I purchased this program and started my work in January. It was really helpful to take my time and not compact all the work over a short period of time.

I really like the Ease of use and walk through Turbotax provides. I wish the Deluxe version allowed managing the dividends for my small number of Stocks versus having to go to Premier. Filing electronically and securely is a breeze. The added security of providing positive proof of identity with my drivers license makes me and my wife feel more secure.

There are a number of areas where the deductibility (medical, charitable, etc.) are limited as a % of income or by total income. Likewise, Social Security is taxable based on income levels. Ideally, Turbo Tax should explain using real number from my return, such as: your deductions will be (or were) limited to x$ because only amounts over y% of your income (or z$) are deductible. "Learn more" could then direct one to the IRS generic text. Or x% of your Social Security Benefits or y$ will be (or were) taxable because.. Similarly, I am always surprised to see where certain items I entered in easy step wound up in the final return. There should be a better connection.

Ive used turbo tax for 25 years and usually been happy with it. this years version didn't load well, wouldn't update, exe file crashed half way through, buttons to advance sometimes took several punches to do anything (and then sometimes skipped pages). Some sections got skipped 7 its fortunate I knew what I was looking for and that TT was wrong or I would have paid an extra $4200! Really dissatisfied with the whole software pack this year. When I needed help I couldn't find a way to talk to anyone at TT to help resolve THEIR problems with the software. After this experience I may switch software next year!

no one on one support which is terrible. Should provide live one on one for all products to some degree. Will not recommend for that reason. On line non live support did not help. Had an error message and could not get resolved. Even on line live support at a minimal cost would be helpful.

Clear explanations for complex rules were exceedingly lacking, I had to look up a lot of supplemental information in order to file my taxes. In the end it told me I had to also mail some documents, the document was incomplete and it did not provide more information on what supplemental material needed to be mailed with it. Turbotax was not worth the money this time.

Have used TTax products for several years, from 1040EZ to SE business returns and have never been dis-satisfied. Simple instructions, maximizing refunds and assessing audit risk, with access to great advice and guidance for the next year. The product has become quite simply, the industry standard for tax return software.

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years and it has served me well. I was a tax preparer and the early versions of professional tax software were not too accurate and we had to double check everything. Earlier versions of Turbo Tax were not very user friendly, and Parsons Technology software in the 90's was the best; but you acquired it and since then, Turbo Tax has gotten better every year! Even complex issues are taken care of and all the Tax Law changes are incorporated; so tax preparation is easy and NO WORRIES! Thanks!
