I have been using TurboTax for 3 years and have had great results. It makes getting through the process of gathering documents and filling in forms very easy. Pulling tax documents from income, investment, and bank accounts online streamlines the whole process. TurboTax walks you through each step.

TT said it would give me a chance to print my State return for mailing, after I e-filed my Federal return -- but it did not. There were early 2018 reports of TT not working on Windows 10. That said -- TT was as great and predictable as ever. I had no problems, even though I run Windows 10.

2016 was first withdrawal at 70-1/2 of Traditional IRA for spouse. At some point the program had lost the basis info for the IRA. Did taxes. Showed 1st withdrawal but did not have basis listed. I did not notice. The program did not find this on review. Seems like it should have. Went back to do amendment; was not user friendly when I tried to do amendment. I just put the original basis in for 2017 and paid full taxes on w/d for 2016. Lost $30.

I have used TurboTax for over 20 years, and plan to use it for many more. Like the ease of use, auto population of items from prior year and from federal return to state returns. Step-by-step provides reassurance you aren't forgetting any needed or beneficial schedules. Quick to complete and easy to understand.

For me turbo tax is as easy as and much less expensive than a mass-market preparer. Because I keep detailed records and chart my deductions and rental expenses myself I would end up with the same amount of work and about 10 times the expense if I went to a store-front tax preparer. That said, a consultation with a CPA or financial manager might help me plan better for the next year.

We have been using an accountant for the past 20 years to prepare our taxes because we owned a business. We no longer have the business so a friend suggested I try filing them myself with the help of Turbotax. Great advice!! It was so easy to do and helped me file with confidence. First it did not pickup my last years HR Block data from my hard drive. A little annoying. Everything else is pretty straight forward and comprehensive. My only complaint that could have cost me big was it did not calculate rental depreciation. Had to bring up my last years HR Block to see what it should be. Admitted the IRS changed this this year but still. REALLY?? Refunds seemed to match what I expected.

I have used your product for perhaps 15+ years. Worst addition I have had, doesn't seem to work well with windows 10. After every entry the screen would clear and I would have to click out. Very confusing K-1 entries. Not at all sure why. Didn't do it in the past. A form I still don't understand why it is in the return, absolutely no value on it. (And I have been doing my own taxes since 1973) and I couldn't delete it. No ability to block remove transactions to a state where they don't apply (PA in this case), very annoying. Not your best effort. Less pleased than I was in past years. Glad to discuss it with you, but I'm not the happiest. I think you can do better.

Overall I was very satisfied. However, I had to file the AMT this year, and the instructions and "Learn more" links were far fewer than throughout the regular return. The AMT was new to me and very confusing to begin with and it would be nice if the step by step instructions were more explicit, with additional information available. I felt like I was not sure about many of my answers in this section, and there was no way to get instructions.

I have used TT for about 10 years. Have never had an issue with the IRS. Lots of friends go to accountants because of investment data or thinking they'll get a better refund. TT imports and processes my investment info directly from the companies I use...easy peasy! Plus, accountants HATE to do itemized donations and tell you they aren't worth it...I just brought down the taxes I owed by over $400 by itemizing my donations using TT's It's Deductible. Yes, a little time consuming (make sure you keep your receipts and detailed lists during they year), but definitely worth it!!!
