Carrying forward previous year info is very helpful. It's also helpful to have verification on some more complicated items. While I still use IRS publications, the Turbotax framework provides a comfortable, well-trodden path to follow. I am a retired CPA who shudders at the thought of letting someone else do the taxes. It is nonetheless nice to have a well traveled friend at my side each year.

I completed nearly all of Federal Return. After a save, when I logged back in, screen display indicated that a program update was being done. When the update was completed and your program re-opened, instead of being at the point near the end of my return where I had left-off, I was again at the beginning, and it was difficult to determine how best to navigate through previously completed screens in order to continue and complete.

I have used TurboTax for many years. This was the most frustrating ever. It didn't't seem to recognize me and keep asking me to change my password. One accepting it, it gave me the same message and I had to do it again. I received at least 9 emails and messages before it finally worked. I don't know if it even yet recognizes me from the past. The UI is severely flawed.

Love Turbo Tax, have used it since 1999 and even tho a CPA does my Trust return, my personal business and farm info is so easy to enter using TT on my personal return. However, because of being a victim of prior fraud, IRS issued me an IP PIN but I was not was unable to enter it because Turbo Tax never asked for it. Hope my refund is not delayed...

Next year marks 50 years of paying federal taxes. We are mainly do-it-ourselves people. We have slogged through reading tax instructions, going to accountants for messy years and using different tax programs since their infancy. For probably 20 years or so we have been using TurboTax. Twice when we used accountants, I also used TurboTax as well. The pros found a few more deductions but their fees offset the gains. Only been audited twice over the years and neither were in the TurboTax years. I trust them.

Switching between Easy Step and Forms is easy on Federal taxes. Having used Turbo Tax for decades, it is nice to have the consistency of the process. This could be easier on state taxes, instead of having to run all the way thru Easy Step again if you go back to it. On one federal form, I spent ages trying to figure out a way to skip entering info that was already reported through investment downloaded info, and finally saw a Note saying enter 0 instead. Highlighting the Note in color would make it easier to notice. Otherwise, good process.

There are still several thinks I do not like about the 2017 TurboTax product. The biggest one is it DOES NOT fill out the bank account number and routing number when you choose to PRINT your return (and there is no way to go back in and edit it). The Connecticut instructions say you are NOT to write this info in (but it's the only way to do it). Same as last year. Please fix this. Also, there should be a "print this page" option on the top of every page. You have this when you click a "hint" but not for every other page. Sometimes you want to print a page for reference or to have for next year. Please add a "print this page" option at the top of every screen.

Used this product Many, Many years and will continue to recommend to friends and family! Trusted to correct my errors and oversights and have never had issue with the ease of Installation and execution of the software. Will continue to use as long as available.

Turbotax is just great and indispensable. I do have one suggestion about employee stock awards such as RSUs. The software assumes shares were withheld to pay the taxes with zero gain or loss on the transaction. In this case they are not shown on the 1099B, and the Turbotax writeup is correct. However, the shares are valued as of the grant date, and if the vendor, such as E-Trade, does not get around to selling them until a later date, then there will normally be a gain or loss and then the sale will be on the 1099. In this case, one does not enter the pro-rata shares sold for taxes in the net shares that are eventually sold.

I have used Turbotax for years. I have a couple rentals, a couple brokerage accounts, other real estate and investments. Turbotax accounts for it all. It is easy to follow and make entries (as long as you have your documentation!) Hate doing taxes, but Turbotax makes it bearable!
