Every few years Turbo Tax forgets how users "use" the program. I've been a user for well over a decade--this was an off year. The interface was not intuitive, and there were multiple questions asking for yes/no answers on the same page (for example). Also, there would be explanations about why certain questions were being asked *after the questions were asked (not cool, Turbo Tax). Maybe next year. It's still the best available so hard to complain, but I sense an opportunity...

I have been doing my taxes on TurboTax since MSDOS and ChipSoft. It continues to incrementally improve even when the underlying taxes become more and more complex and convoluted. This year I had to file in six states. I completed Federal and all six states on TurboTax. I do not envy your current task of deciphering the NEW tax law.

I have used TT for years. Easy to use, fast, etc. Will likely, not definitely use next year. I got hit with AMT and additional medicare tax this year. My income was lower this year than last and I was not hit with these last year. So...what gives. Likely will seek a pro next year.

It does a nice job with most of the return. Be careful if you get K-1s and also the investment is held by a broker. Turbotax had me claiming the gain on the sale twice, once on the K-1 sale and again when the broker reported the gain. The only other item I found was with rental property answering that 'no' to the question was work was done requiring a W-9, but on the final return it reported yes. On the plus side it handles all the calculations for you, guides you through topics, and checks for errors. Overall does a nice job.

The question/answer style with helpful hint links amy seem a bit tedious, but it makes things almost too easy, generally. The helpful links to more obscure subjects may seem to terse, but careful reading shows they do the job extremely well. As in the past, this program has done its job -- helping me do mine where paying taxes are concerned. Great job, once again.

I've been using Turbotax (formally MacInTax) for a very long time. It has always been easy to use. This year I also decided to try the online version to check the differences. There are some both pro and con. I like the dvd version because I can look at individual forms which is not possible using the online version. The online version is cheaper. Bottom line, they both make sure you've covered everything and the resulting tax refund is the same.

There should not be an extra charge to efile the State returns. I have tried to send it in electronically 5 times now and the State keeps rejecting it. Do I get my money back, since I will have to manually fill in forms and mail it? How do I get a refund?I

started using 2017 free until I filed version after previously using CD version for years; found it unacceptable and ended up purchasing CD again; why do they have to be so different? also with CD version you receive one free state return which I don't need in a tax free state; should be able to purchase at a discount only federal as is possible with free until I file version; also my previous returns were not shown in comparison as was shown in previous years

After spending hours and hours filling these forms out, I neared the finish line. As I enter the last form I needed, which was number 4658, a statement popped that said,"turbo tax doesn"t support that form." After I finished swearing at the computer I closed out the return,filed for refund and said the hec with it. If I had known upfront,I would have purchased some other software.

The program is a whiz to use and very thorough with all the necessary details provided, step by step. I have been using TT for over a dozen years and there has only been a single glitch in all that time. Unfortunately, it is my fault, I did not realize that the state had not accepted my return 1 year and that caused the Fed and the State to reject them the following year. Now, if both are accepted this year, I will be in business again... well not in business literally, but up and running anyway. Thank you for this product.
