Filed taxes for dependents (children - one of which is in college). Then filed parents. Federal for parents got rejected by IRS because there was confusion about dependents. TurboTax should provide a way to tie together related filers, so that if a college student accidentally marks "not a dependent" and parent marks a dependent, they could be double checked before e-filing. Now I have to find a way to extend the parent filing until I can amend the dependent student's return fixing the checkbox.

My spouse said after several years of my using TurboTax, she had never seen me struggle so to complete the TurboTax routine! Two things slowed, no stymied, me for quite a bit. The first were the intricacies of determining the Cost Basis for a mutual fund we had redeemed after 20 years. It spanned both covered and non-covered securities' requirements of the Emergency Economic Act of 2008. I learned a lot! That I count as a positive. Then this unexplained and unfathomable Form 2210 AI shows up in part of my calculations. The TurboTax step by step procedure demanded I correct 15 blanks that I had no clue about. How it got into my return is still a mystery to me. Anyway, it took me quite a while to conclude I could finally submit my returns, Federal and State, after just deleting this unwanted and unneeded form! This was definitely a negative.

I was given an Identity Protection Personal Number by IRS as a victim of identity theft earlier. This PIN has 6 digits in it. When I tried to e-file, Turbotax asked me to enter a make-up PIN consisting of 5 digits, which I did accordingly. Would that cause problem to my e-filing since I was unable to use the PIN provided by IRS? Please advise. Thanks.

Been using Turbo Tax for decades. The only thing I would have liked to see this year is a feature after filing taxes that would estimate next year's taxes based on all the changes coming. My deductions have been reduced, and I'm not 100% sure that they're withholding enough. But I can't find a good estimator for next year. I need it sooner rather than later in order to adjust withholding if necessary.

Suggestions for improvement: 1) better help function that does not require going on line 2) provide a way to delete a form (if there is, it is not obvious or easily accessed 3) make the date entry fields more tolerant (if I enter 1/5/17, it should be obvious to even a rudimentary algorithm that I mean 01/05/2017, so why waste my time forcing me to make the correction? Add-on: why can my nick-name be limited to only letters and numbers? Again: silly limitation that required me to go back and re-enter.. four times!!!!, two of them because someone had already used the nickname. Almost decided not to comment at all.

I had been paying HR Block HUNDREDS of dollars to do our taxes, and last year when I had to figure out what they goofed on for our state, and we had to pay HUNDREDS to the state, and we never even got a 'sorry' we decided not again. This was great, I was scared, but talking to friends they said it was easy to use, and it was. We would certainly use Turbo Premier again next year. this was fast, and pretty painless.

Overall, good experience. Still it took a long time because of erroneous import issues from etrade. Two issues - a) for RSUs, the cost basis doesn't get imported properly. It first gave me a bit of a shock wrongly showing i owe much much more taxes. Because shares withheld for taxes at source was not reflected properly (so cost basis needed adjustment). Perhaps it was due to etrade issues. But this has been a pattern every year for last few years. I wish you can modify to at least point out to the user that this would require simple adjustment to cost basis. Perhaps TurboTax can work with Etrade to make this easy. This added a bunch of hours for me to verify, and reverify and reverify in multiple places. b) for some reason TurboTax allowed for multiple imports of etrade forms, causing duplication of tax owed. I had to manually delete it. There must be a way TurboTax can check for duplicates automatically.

It is frustrating that when I download there is NO record of it on my online account. I sign into my account, so I can download this year's Turbo Tax (that I already purchased to download on one computer) to another computer and there is no way to do it. Turbo Tax only tells me that I haven't filed online. I have to go to an email to retrieve information.

Really simple to follow along, but takes time. Very happy with program until we tried to submit then got caught in a lop of "No city needed" and "no street address needed" only to run the check again and find they are needed. Turns out you have to go back into the federal info and take out the street and city and then correct it after the check - this is just aggravating as could be.

When checking my taxes, it said that I needed to change the name of a charity, but I donated to a dozen and could not figure out or "jump" to whichever one was the problem. First time taking medical deduction and found it difficult to determine where to enter the info for various types of claims/services. Would have been nice to see all the categories in one place rather than continually having to go back and correct things.
