You just got to trust it.

I am not one of those who likes to use a full screen so a lot of time when I need to hit the "continue" button I need to scroll the page to get to the bottom. That button should be higher up. Also as you put in figures you have no idea of where they are going or what they are doing, you just have to trust that all the calculations are right. Sure, you can view the document or print it out but it would be nice to see what is happening at the same time you stick in the numbers. Maybe a side screen with the document showing where your number is going as you enter it would help.

I have used Turbotax for years and have been satisfied. One big problem are K-1 forms that have more than 1 number in boxes 1-3 and more than one source of income in box 16. It kept preventing me from e-filing because it came up as an error. Ended up filing a K-1 in duplicate, including some boxes in each filing. Don't know if this was legitimate. Frustrating!

confusing analysis by Turbotax

Had only 1 issue. Importing data from 2016 Schedule E caused that income to be used in both Schedule C and Schedule E, counting it twice. When I realized that I had to manually delete the income from Schedule C, giving a refund instead of having to pay.

Solid

There was one flaw that I had to find out how to correct by going to the internet. The information was there under Turbo Tax signage, but I lost several hours trying to understand error/issue and revisiting all entered data. Great to know how your money is being spent.

Great Tax Program

I have been a long term user and will continue to use Turbo Tax Premier. This year the Stock Trade entry got a little quirky. I imported my 90 trades using a TXF file from my broker. The file imported just fine. Turbo Tax had me filing out a lot more info than I though I should have to (e.g., Entry/Exit dates which are in the TXF file). After poking around and coming back to that section, I had to correct the first 10 to add the dates, but the rest of the trades were OK. I only had to enter the class of trade (e.g., "A", "B", etc.), which is what I expected all along. I will continue to use TT, this was a minor inconvenience as it sure beats typing in 90 stock trades!

It's a struggle every year

TurboTax is ok if you have simple tax returns, but much more than that and it just can't handle it. This year I just finished entering every thing, ran the check and fixed a few errors. Then I go through the forms one by one to try to reconcile what is on the forms vs. what I entered. This year I spent a bunch of time trying to enter a schedule K-1 [Note I sold the asset last year because it made doing taxes so hard last year. I'm still not sure I put them in correctly. Trying to get customer support last year was impossible so didn't even try this year.] Then I go through the forms one by one and discovered that I should not have entered cost basis on my Form 1065 if the basis was included on a 1099-B. There went 4 hours down the drain. Once again this year, I'm still not sure if they have been entered correctly. Another problem this year was trying to figure out how much I could write off for IRA contributions. What TT figured out did not seem right to me so I went to IRS Pub 590-A and painfully read through that and created my own spreadsheet. Sure enough, TT was way off. 2 years ago I went to a CPA, but they charged way too much and also made errors I had to correct. Of course, biggest cause of the problem is the IRS makes things so hard to understand it's hard to blame anyone for not getting it right either...but they are supposedly the experts. If only we could get real tax reform and abolish the IRS!

needs improvement

This is a good product that could be made better. There needs to be a separate worksheet to enter 1099-s. The current format is confusing. It would be helpful if the related forms for entries were always available. Totals for each income and expense sections would be helpful. Signing in was not easy.

Small Correction Needed

Love TurboTax and have been using the product for many, many years. It is easy to use and generally meets my every expectation. This year when printing selected forms, the default goes to everything checked. The Federal and State forms require separate unchecks. The default should be nothing checked. I have wasted a lot of paper because of this. It needs to be corrected

A Bit Disappointing

I have been using TurboTax since the mid-1980's. When it loads, it asks you to update turbotax; when you exit, it asks if you want to save the file. My version did neither - I had to save my returns to a memory stick, then re-load the file every time I used TurboTax. Disappointing.

Overall, great

Overall, terrific. I don't trust on-line, hence doing the download product. Relatively clear/simple step by step. Good online support of previously answered questions. I'm surprised though there are not "notes" sections, where I could jot notes about something so I remember for later (ex, recording a detail in case I'm audited) - the electronic equivalents of stickies in a paper file. Sometimes it's unclear what to do and I need to Google the next steps/what my situation means.
