The federal instructions and questions are admirable. You cover all my areas. However the state instructions failed to work out all the conversions of federal taxable income to state taxable income. I had to refer to the state instructions at the dept. of revenue site to convert federal medical deduction to state. This makes me wonder what else You missed. PLEASE work on the state forms before you release TTfor2018.

I suggest that you don't let it guide you through everything. That takes forever. But you can easily see what needs review. We spent a lot of time valuing donations to no avail. Would be good to know in advance whether it would be worth it. Same for health care expenses.

It would be nice to state required % of income or $ require for some deductions. Some users do have an idea of how much they have available to meet minimum requirements rather than go through the process and find out 15 minutes later that you do not have enough deductions.

Years ago I was impressed by TurboTax. Now I slog thru it, having to go thru or skip over topics previously handled every time I open my return to continue working on it. It is stuffed full of graphics so I have to scroll to find the section I want to work on.

This is the first year I used turbotax for my state refund; typically I prepare the refund from the state website. The state property tax needs to be subtracted from the federal itemized deductions. The software did not do that nor will it allow me to make changes. If I file state taxes through turbotax, my refund will be corrected and reduced. This causes a delay in my refund and is a waste of my time.

I had to manually enter all my saved data from last year in spite of having the file on the same PC; I tried to e-file my state return several times, but ended up mailing it. My computer locked up several times and I had to clear it with task manager. I did clean the history, etc. I couldn't use my credit card which is why it locked up. I never got to that screen. I have used Turbo Tax for many years and this is the worst experience I have had ever. I question whether I will use it next year.

This was my first year to use Turbo Tax. I was nervous and frustrated at times. At one point in the process I was totally unclear what was being asked by the prompts. After getting an advisor, he worked with me to figure out the problem in a "check this entry" section...and stayed with me through the end of the process. Very helpful!

I saved a lot of time by having all my capital gains transactions imported electronically and transferred to the necessary forms. Unfortunately, I still had to go through 150 pages of documents to find all the mistakes. For example, the program disallowed some reimbursed moving expenses because the move occurred at the end of 2016, but the reimbursement occurred at the beginning of 2017. The program only asked if a move occurred in 2017, to which I had to respond "no." Because of this "no" the program autopopulated fields to null sets, disallowing the entire reimbursement without notifying me that there was a problem. Overall, the program is good, but its flaws still would have cost me thousands of dollars if I did not spend 4 hours reviewing all the forms line-by-line.

It would be very helpful if you were clear in your promos about which forms and schedules are available in which version of Turbo Tax. I had to take back the one that I bought originally and exchange for the version I needed. I read every thing that you release on your website. It is maddeningly confusing. I don't whether this is by design to mislead purchasers or an inability to write clear prose.

HAD SIMPLE DOCUMENTS TO FILE, SPENT ALMOST 4 HOURS ATTEMPTING TO GET PAST THE 1099 MISC FORM BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY TAKE IT AS "MY" BUSINESS. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH TURBOTAX UNTIL THIS YEAR AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I WILL BE LOOKING FOR OTHER METHODS NEXT TAX SEASON FOR SURE.
