On review, many of the error messages are not clear or do not give any help in fixing. For example, I am invested in several partnerships. If there is an error in a form that was fed by a partnership, it doesn't tell which partnership was the problem. I had a problem with foreign tax credits but again, I couldn't figure out the source of the problem from the error message. Error messages where applicable should be linkable to the related input area. In fact investment in MLP's in general seem to cause many problems in Turbo Tax, especially with the lines 13-20

Quickly completed my taxes with a couple of hiccups. 1. Import of 1099s from investment accounts doesn't allow paste of passwords. This is a problem when you use a password manager to generate long, random passwords. 2. Had to search online for a workaround when review flagged several entries on a foreign tax credit worksheet. Entries were actually needed. 3. There's an additional fee for state e-file. Why can't Quicken work out a way to do this for free since e-filers save the states money on processing returns.

can be a little confusing for people with higher levels of tax knowledge since turbotax handles some situations in confusing way. For example, my tax return amount changed at the very end before filing even though numerous "final" reviews were done by turbotax

I have not been able to file my Fed and CA returns due to a recording warning that I need updated forms in order to file. Updating does absolutely nothing, and there is no useful support. I have been using since decade ago, and never had such problems with no path to solutions of any use... 2017 = fail Turbotax

I had a career in taxes. Using Turbo Tax makes life a lot easier. I considered that other major blockhead tax preparer but in my career I found them to inflate peoples deductions in order to generate refunds using the odds that they would not be audited. It apparently worked but why trust them when Turbo just tells it as it is.

I've done my taxes several times without software, but I haven't gone back since using TurboTax. I will say that the fact that I would have had to print and send in all my stuff for state frustrated me. Otherwise still very pleased with software.

Had lots of issues this year, but come to find out it is because I bought the program from someone besides Intuit. If you purchase from someone else, your info is not stored on Intuit's server. It is only on the computer that you downloaded the software from. Had to do my taxes twice because of this.

The Federal return was very simple. I loved that Turbotax now creates the P&L from my investment accounts. Moving during the year, continued revenue from my old job, living in a new state and working in another state is impossible. I will have my return reviewed by a CPA. I have zero confidence the state returns are correct. If TurboTax has a CPA that wishes to work on this edge case, I'm game. I don't believe the results. Michael Fargo

Makes good use of previous years' returns, and covered all my needed issues. Unfortunately, Turbotax drags in forms from previous years, even when they don't apply -- and you have to look at the forms view to find that out. I had filed an annualized income form 8 or more years ago, to avoid underpayment penalties. I haven't needed that form in years, but discovered that it was still being included, even though it's unneeded. Also, when I tried submitting my California "Use tax" items, Turbotax continues to force you to select the county/rate for each and every item. I've pointed this out for years, and Intuit chooses not to address the problem, even though it's trivial to have it default to the same county/rate as the previous one. And the other pet peeve I've pointed out for years: Charitable donations are listed in arbitrary order, and cannot be sorted. This feature would also be trivial to implement.

Very difficult to call and reach an actual Intuit Representative. NO phone numbers listed, hard to find phone numbers to use. And once you are connected, long wait times. Their call back procedure was good. AGAIN had trouble with the AL return listing my Military Retirement pay as INCOME, it is not so in AL. I do enjoy using Turbo Tax and will cont to use in the future.
