No Former Support for Loyal Customers

i have used the product for years, but it still cannot go back and find out information from previous tax returns. For example it cant find out previous hope or opportunity education tax credits. it wont keep track of roll over deductions. it wont keep track of previous investments. etc.... Very disappointing for loyal customers.

Very good way to "do" income taxes

Very thorough program but data entry not always easy. Weakest areas for me are detail modules to document lists of items and their subtotals. This is especially hard when last year's return had similar list that now must be updated. Locations of detail modules not clear; method for deleting old list not clear; no safeguard for duplication. Also, no way to reprint forms for quarterly estimates for next year. Poor index. Another problem: My nickname rejected because used before!! OF COURSE!!! I've used TurboTax before!!!!!

iMac issues

the program itself seems to run well. But the Mac version has bugs that you will have to deal with. The largest is that it won't transmit the filing. The only solution that I found was on a discussion board. Hit transmit over and over until it works. After 18 tries it finally went, but not what I would call smooth

Premier

I purchased the Premier because I have 1 rental house. However, it never did prompt me to enter the real estate tax on my rental property. I searched and searched. Where it enters the real estate tax for the home where I live it said don't enter real estate tax here for rental property, but it never asked me for that information. Perplexed. Plus I think the Premier may only apply to those who do real estate as a professional. I couldn't find out if I could enter this via just the Deluxe.

Great Product

Have used TurboTax for a good number of years. It makes doing taxes more organized and a bit easier. I always find there's something I've forgotten about because of the thorough questions that are asked. It's also easy to find answers when there's any questions about the hard spots in the return. And, I'm able to take breaks and come back when I am able to. I highly recommend the product.

Prices go up software quaility goes down

This may be my last year using turbo tax they were the top filing software but cheaper competitors are making filing just as easy and cheaper. This year the auto check missed that a form wasn't correctly filled out, a 0 was located in a place where a non zero number was required. While this was a mistake made by me for not entering a number the form was shown as completely filled out and the error check didn't catch it. This type of autofill 0 and miss could have cost me $500 but the federal system caught the error and rejected it. What made this experience even worse was that a text solution was provided in the software but no hyper links were provided to the sections that needed to be corrected. What made this worse is that when you navigate to the section the explanation of what you need to fix disappears because you are in a different section. So I had to navigate back to the explanation and take a screen shot to make sure I fixed the issue turbo tax missed. At this point I feel that the only way I could be kept as a customer is the company to reach out to me and make this right.

Better than Nothing

It's a good program which I have used for years. However there is still too much obscure (to non-specialists) financial vocabulary used. There are some popups with explanations, but not enough. Often I have no idea how to answer a question so I just guess.

Gets Better Every Year

Used it for many years. Has handled complicated returns including rental properties, sales of rentals, trusts, multiple types of investments, personal loans, getting 2nd mortgage payments from buyers and even a bad debt owed to us. I can think of no reason a reasonably intelligent person cannot do his own taxes with this. Do yourselves a favor!

Another easy year

Have used Turbo tax for several years, and having the previous years information at hand makes completing the current years return quite simple. A lot of questions, but it pays to be complete to make sure you get all the deductions you are allowed. Another easy and safe years filing done!

I have been using Turbo Tax for at least 18 years. It goes through all the steps to find what forms are needed. I would definitely have missed forms if I were doing this using paper only. Some forms were so complicated and requested information from other forms that I would have spent significantly more time trying to do our taxes by hand. When I had finished entering all the data I like to go through the completed forms to make sure I understand the entries. My main complaint is that some of the data needed for automatic bank deductions of tax due or for refunds cannot be entered until the preparer is starting to eFile. It would be better if this information could be entered earlier in the process with a question such as "Do you plan to eFile your Federal and/or State taxes." I kept searching to try to find where to enter this data before actually starting to eFile.
