Find the step by step guidance helpful. Prevents you from overlooking items and ensures that you file all the correct schedules. Use the software for both us and our adult children's filings. Still find the AMT calculations confusing, but think that is just the law and not necessarily the software. I believe that will all go away next year. Two suggestions: (1) show the limit amounts right at the start of the calculations rather than having to enter some information in before you realize you don't qualify for the deduct (Example-medical, investment costs, etc.) (2) Would have appreciated a look forward with the new tax laws based upon our current tax situation this year when you get to the end of the process and look ahead.

This is much erasier than filling out by hand. I seem to hit a looping bug each year with this software where I am asked a question which leads to another and then back to the previous. I typically have to go back to a previous question to break out of the loop. I also hit strange bugs where it will not let me file without entering 0.00 rather than leaving an empty field. Most fields accept empty, so why do not all of them??? I still will buy it next year even knowing it will be buggy.

This focuses on one issue that frustrated me for days trying to resolve. In short, if you enter miscellaneous income NOT reported on a 1099-Misc, the software "hides" that income. Instead of inserting it on line 21, where expected, it adds the amount to your income on line 7. So, if you're pulling your hair out trying to figure out where that little bit of extra income has vanished to, double check line 7.

I have a VERY complicated tax situation that would be nearly impossible and take forever to figure out and complete if I had to do it without Turbo Tax. The prep-work -- collecting all your income and deduction data -- no more effort than what you would need to do to take to an accountant, except, Turbo Tax makes sure nothing is missed.

Been using TT for over 20 years now. I feel trapped. I use it every year because it is capable of keeping tabs on what I did in previous years and the carryforward stuff. What I don't like is that even though it DOES know the answer to last year's information, it interviews you to tell it. So if you say no, I don't have carryover - then you lose it. Also, many more bugs in this year's package than previous years. For instance, I could NOT choose to DD my federal refund. Would keep saying I need to enter the correct information. Same info entered into state refund and payments were fine. Federal now I need to wait for a check.

This years 2017 Premiere did not address all items as in the past. I chose for Turbo Tax to step me through each item, BUT it completely left out (skipped over) several large important items in the Investment income & capital gains and losses sections. If I hadn't noticed this I would have inadvertently, left off critical investment info required by the IRS. I was able to fix it by noticing that Turbo Tax forgot it! Not acceptable, and I am very disappointed in this years Turbo Tax. Will probably not use it next year.

The program is easy to us and sucks in your prior return information to give you a head start. The only problem I had was that it inserted a K-1 form that was not needed. I had that from over 2 returns ago, had removed it on a prior Turbo Tax return, and it still came back this year! When I searched for how to remove the form the directions given did not align with my Mac version. If there are differences, the help should list Windows version and Mac version directions. I was eventually able to figure out how to remove the unwanted K-1 form.

I remember the old days of going to the post office to get tax forms (oops! - my age is showing). Turbotax is so fast and I know it's accurate. One year I had an unusual tax issue and needed advice from a CPA so I had a professional prepare my return that year. I told him that I had already prepared my return using Turbotax and he was curious if my results were the same as his...guess what? ... identical to the penny! So needless to say I have complete confidence in turbotax; it's easy to use, it is always up to date with the most recent tax laws, there are links to more info on any topic, and I have confidence that I am getting the largest refund possible.

2016 was first withdrawal at 70-1/2 of Traditional IRA for spouse. At some point the program had lost the basis info for the IRA. Did taxes. Showed 1st withdrawal but did not have basis listed. I did not notice. The program did not find this on review. Seems like it should have. Went back to do amendment; was not user friendly when I tried to do amendment. I just put the original basis in for 2017 and paid full taxes on w/d for 2016. Lost $30.

Your software does not work for State of TN, at least not for me. It totally messes up on stock dividends and tax free bonds. The instructions are confusing and it seems that I have to do all the calculating myself. Because I've had problems in previous years, this year I gave up early, and filed totally manually.
