Clear explanations for complex rules were exceedingly lacking, I had to look up a lot of supplemental information in order to file my taxes. In the end it told me I had to also mail some documents, the document was incomplete and it did not provide more information on what supplemental material needed to be mailed with it. Turbotax was not worth the money this time.

TurboTax doesn't apparently differentiate between the self-made PIN for the software/files and toe six-digit IP PIN Needed from the IRS for eFiling. As such, a user has to hunt down the location to enter this IP PIN online and is nit presented with any easy, definitive means (within the software) to access this entry point. Similarly, on a few other topics, the description and definitions are lacking as well.

I've used turbo-tax many years and this was the worst I've ever seen would not let me get pass the w2 screen I only had 1099 to declear I tried to skip it but it just came back to it about 6 more times then told me I had errors to correct and it was the same w2 I don't have I finally had to put in all zeros so it would let me go on also the system hung on me several times took me hours longer than it should to finish this year printing the return was another nightmare

This has been the 10th year that I have used Turbo Tax. It has simplified my tax preparation not by hours, but by days! The best thing I like about Turbo Tax is the "simple" questions it asks me regarding the tax information are very easy to understand. I also like the way that the program keeps tabs on the transmission and acceptance of my electronic tax returns.

Got a notice that Turbo Tax won't support the latest Mac OS that runs on my Mac next year. I don't think I'll be buying a new laptop just for the fun of using just this one application. Program spends 15 seconds after each input before it's ready for the next. So slow.

Carrying forward previous year info is very helpful. It's also helpful to have verification on some more complicated items. While I still use IRS publications, the Turbotax framework provides a comfortable, well-trodden path to follow. I am a retired CPA who shudders at the thought of letting someone else do the taxes. It is nonetheless nice to have a well traveled friend at my side each year.

I've used turbotax for as long as I can remember. The ability to import 1099s is worth everything. Where I struggled this year was the way turbotax handles K-1s. It took me 10 hours or more over 2 weekends to enter 3 K-1s and get them entered correctly. I never could figure out how to take the foreign tax credit and complete the information, so I took deductions. The on-line help section helped with much of the issue, but not all. Still, I will stick with turbotax and recommend it.

I have used TurboTax for years. It was not as easy to move about in this year's version and the summary pages at the end of each tiny section were confusing. Income TurboTax has always put on a Schedule E was showing up this year on a Schedule C. When I pulled up a form or other detailed info, it was hard to get back to the place I started. Don't know what happened this year, but it was not good from my perspective.

As a retired couple who use investments to help fund our retirement, TT is extremely helpful. We can import our 1099's and it does the rest. The hard part is medical expenses and I've got to do a better job of keeping track, but that's not TT's fault.

it seems impossible to e-file with a Blackstone K-1. The TT forum answers do not resolve the problems. This section should be overhauled. Inefficiencies should also be addressed - if a vehicle is used for several rental properties, you should only have to enter all its details once and then simply allocate mileage. Similarly, if you have multiple gambling winnings from the same casino, you should only have to enter the casino details once.
