Despair if you have foreign tax w/h on dividends

If you own any foreign based stocks (e.g. Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, etc., etc.) which pay dividends, BEWARE. It is just AGONIZING to get info from different countries into the 1116 forms to claim the tax credit. Some dedicated users have provided 'how to's' on the community site. But this is apparently a well known problem. Why can't the gurus at TurboTax address it?

did I pay tax, or didn't I?

my tax return indicates that I chose to pay via direct debit, and listed my correct checking account information. However, on one of the final review pages, it shows that I am paying "$0" Now I'm worried that I've not paid anything for my taxes, and there is no good way to check it.

EASY TO USE AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I've been using TurboTax for 15 years. Never had a problem. Make sure you use the internet version (i/o the cd). The internet version is easier for their tech support to go into your screen to fix issues, the system also saves your returns in case you forget to download it. Stop paying someone else to do exactly what this program does.

Great Product

Have been using Turbo tax for over 10 years. It was great when I was an independent contractor and had expenses to deduct and had to pay my own taxes and used the small business edition. Now I use the premiere edition, very easy to use, with step by step instructions and guides. All my questions are always answered and I am confident in my filing.

It's painful, but TurboTax best way

I've been using TurboTax for years. I have a better return now than I ever had from a CPA. I can do it better and faster, and all instructions are quite clear. Deductions are always a problem, and it's easier with TT than anything I've done. I have all my records, and I know pretty quickly what I can use and what not. I will no doubt continue.

Overall Helpful But Be Cautious

Worth it overall. It gives a comprehensive step-by-step interview for completing taxes and ensures accurate math computations. Still, if not familiar with certain tax reporting details and info on previous tax filings, you can easily miss the prompts for several tax deductions/reporting requirements when using the step-by-step. Examples include deduction for bond premium and U.S. Government obligations.

Ok but outdate

Ok product, but it's about time to get a real update. Difficult to pay at the end, had to enter my address before being asked to login where my address is also present Payement went through 20 times on my card and were cancelled 20 times. Web based PRO app please. Why do I have to pay more for state tax, the software is expensive enough as is.

Easy To Use

I have total confidence in using TurboTax for it's accuracy, plus it's so easy to use. Several years ago, I bought both TurboTax and another brand-name software to compare. TurboTax was easier to use, plus I received a refund of $300 more than the other software.

Works well, but 1099 import could be better

Quickly completed my taxes with a couple of hiccups. 1. Import of 1099s from investment accounts doesn't allow paste of passwords. This is a problem when you use a password manager to generate long, random passwords. 2. Had to search online for a workaround when review flagged several entries on a foreign tax credit worksheet. Entries were actually needed. 3. There's an additional fee for state e-file. Why can't Quicken work out a way to do this for free since e-filers save the states money on processing returns.

Wouldn't be Without It

So many good things about the software. Everything generally works the way it is supposed to, although occasionally funny things happen. Recently, my interest income was double counted, fixed with Override. Some comments are obtuse but that may reflect obtuse tax rules. I love the e-filing.
