Total Garbage - ailed after 3.5 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You expect a state-of-the-art television to last longer than it's predecessor (My previous model lasted 10+ years) and you expect the company that produce it to stand behind a failed product. The fail began with three large discolored blotches and led to the TV randomly resetting, seemingly, every 60 minutes. If Vizio cannot recognize a moment in time to absorb a faulty product and acknowledge that, sometimes, you make a lemon, I will not continue to be a customer. My advice to anyone purchasing from Vizio - Caveat Emptor.

Vizio Quantum M-Series

I decided it was time for an upgrade. I purchased a Vizio 1080p 60" in 2012. Great tv, that's now in my bedroom. I just wanted more. The Quantum Series vs the regular M-Series is really a no brainier. The price difference is your picture difference. If you spend a lot of time with your television, sports, movies, games, family time, etc. Drop the extra dough on the Quantum. The color difference is unbelievable!! I would've went Quantum P series, but that was a little to steep for me. The only thing I've found that I don't care for is the input menu. There are multiple options when I really only use 3-4. I suppose it's a learning curve as well. I would highly recommend this tv to all of those on the fence about it.

Superior picture quality

I bought the TV 6 months ago and it was freezing sometimes, they sent me a replacement TV that had a black spot on the screen, so contacted them again and asked for a refund this time, they came and took the TV and will send me my refund, that's why I'm giving 5 stars, they have the best customer service ever, the TV was really good if it wasn't freezing, the second one didn't freeze but it has another issue, I would buy again this TV and I recommend it to everyone.

Great picture quality/small annoyances

Bought this last fall and it has been great. The native UI for watching live tv is slightly buggy/unfriendly, so I stay away from it and just use my AppleTV. Another small annoyance, it does take time for the tv to wake up. In some instances I need to power down the external device and turn it back on for the tv to actually recognize that the source is available/ready.

Difficult

I bought this TV about 6 months ago. Have already had to exchange it once. TV is worse than windows with the extremely slow updates and we're are continually having to reset it to factory settings and stay all over again with app set ups. Should have purchased a Roku and not this "SMART" tv.

Beautiful but problematic

We bought this to replace another Vizio TV whose screen died after 5 years. We should have known better but the price and look of a new Vizio make it very compelling. First the good: the TV design is great, and picture quality generally good. Smartcast is nice when it's working. As for cons, we started having issues from a few months in. First the TV would randomly turn itself on in the middle of the night. The problem seems to happen when our Roku stick is in, so we have to unplug it every night, which is annoying. Even when the Roku is NOT plugged in, the TV randomly turns itself off while we're watching, and Smart Cast often takes a long time to load or is unavailable. Finally, every once in a while a horizontal line of digital noise will scroll down the screen, randomly interrupting the picture. Obviously there's something faulty here and we need to call it in to Vizio but it's just super annoying to deal with on a TV that's less than 8 months old.

Tom

TV delivered 9/05/2019. Having problems with TV turning itself on/off. Talked to VIZIO Support on 9/16. They had me unplug TV; plug in TV and hold ON button for 5 seconds. Came home on 9/18 P.M. and found TV on? Will continue with VIZIO Support.

GREAT PICTURE & SOUND

I had this M658 for about 1 week. Feet were too big for my console & didn't want to hang on wall. Got legs for it from Menards. Having problems with TV coming on (no timers set) during middle of night and other daylight times. Hope disabling CEC will remedy this one problem. When changing source the feature changes very quickly i.e. HDMI to antenna etc

Non-existent support. Airplay buggy.

If you review the Youtube "How to use Apple AirPlay 2 | VIZIO SmartCast™" you'll find dozens of complaints from Vizio customers that the Airplay function is buggy or doesn't work at all. I wish I'd seen it before buying. In my case it works with my iPhones. Doesn't work with my Macs (OS X High Sierra). Yes, I'm using the same wifi network for Mac and TV. I've also done a factory reset of the TV. I contacted Vizio and I'll have to say they have some of the most mindless drones for "support reps" and "support supervisors" I've ever dealt with. All they know how to do is read off a script. For every comment or objection I made they just repeated the same script over and over again. They refuse to listen. Talk about gaslighting! Every time I asked to speak to a supervisor or have the problem escalated they just gaslighted me again. I spent over an hour on the phone only to hear them say their "resolution to the problem is you'll have to call Apple for support." And of course they weren't about to pay for the $35 minimum charge Apple requires for phone support. I'm an Apple Certified Consultant and have been for over 25 years. So I know a few things about Apple. I can say with 100% certainty this is not Apple's problem. In order for Vizio to even begin the process of writing code to support Airplay they had to become an Apple Developer to get Apple's specs for Airplay. If in writing code Vizio didn't follow Apple's Airplay specifications precisely their product won't work properly, and this is clearly what happened here. Vizio screwed up, but rather than owning it, or referring it to their own product development team, they're telling customers to call Apple for support! I've bought Vizio products before, including 2 prior TVs and 2 soundbars. Never again. I won't patronize an incompetent business that gaslights their customers when they need product support.

Hello Reformedude, to get Airplay to work when using your Mac it would require macOS 10.14.5 or higher to be able to stream your content. If you are able to upgrade your Mac operating system and you are still not able to Airplay your content please reach out to our customer support again at support.vizio.com and click on 'Contact Us'.
