Vertical pixel failures after only 2 years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very sad. The picture was great for just under 2 years. Then, I woke up to turn it on and find a 2 pixel wide line from top to bottom. Other TVs I've had over the last 10 years have lasted 4-5 years.

VIZIO M658-G1 may be the best choice for the money

Brighter then most others, took me a little while to figure out how to keep it from turning on by itself. Build quality seems really good, have seen better blacks and whites but that was on TV's costing 3 or 4 times as much. I highly recommend used a line conditioning surge protector intermittent spikes of current can easily damage your TV.

Great TV

This TV is absolutley perfect. Crystal clear picture and it's tpoo easy to cast any app from any phone. My old TV fell off the stand (jumping kids) and the new TV connected to my old remote and Vizio Soundbar (which I also love) automatically! I have it hooked up to my Amazon Alexa which makes turning on/off, adjusting the volume or launching apps a breeze. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a TV that has all the bells and whistles done right at a great price.

Some Fine Features And Some Less Appealing Failing

Our TV has some fine features. The picture is excellent, the sound is clear, and the design is attractive. The connection of peripheral equipment, such as sound systems and Amazon Firesticks is easy. On the downside: the TV frequently shuts itself off and the remote (even with frequent battery changes) often requires multiple button pushes to change channels, choose Smartcast channels, or turn the TV on or off. It's difficult to feel more positive about our TV with small quality failings that occur multiple times each day.

Great TV but...

Really love the TV, features and quality of the picture. However, I am having a problem with it turning on randomly in the night and none of the customer service tips online seem to be working. Plan to call the company soon to see if anything can be done.

Got the Picture

We've had our TV for over two months and have been well pleased. We run a home theater system, so the sound is great and the picture is too. I am writing this largely because of things I have learned by installing a friend's TV and finding optimized settings for our particular TV on the internet. Optimizing the picture settings makes a huge difference and if you have a receiver, the ARC hdmi input (usually #1) allows that wire to serve as an audio input to the receiver, thus using your audio system when using the smart features that don't run through the receiver. You will need to augment the TV's sound system with a home theater system or sound bar.

Great TV with Limitations

I have owned this product for about 1 month. To date my experience has mostly been positive. First and foremost the picture quality is very good. I will say that it is not nearly as crisp and vibrant as the demo at the big box store that I purchased it at, but I suspect that has to do with these stores broadcasting special content to the screen. On our standard HD Comcast channels the picture is bright and the colors are solid. What is missing is the vibrant colors that you see at the store. All of the colors are slightly washed out but again, I knew this would happen before I purchased the set. It has nothing to do with the settings, as I have experimented with multiple settings and recommendation from experts on calibrating the unit. The content broadcast in the store is different. That said, I still enjoy the picture. I had some initial trouble with the unit automatically turning on in the middle of the night, but that has stopped. The rear facing speakers are a real limitation. I typically have to turn them to 3/4 full volume unless I am sitting within 8 feet of the TV and the house is dead quiet. A sound bar is highly recommended. I was able to sync it with my Comcast remote so I only need one remote to control the TV and cable box. I was able to easily connect my phone and IPad/Android tablet to the TV via SmartCast. The quick links to Netflix, Hulu and other streaming services work great. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a solid large screen TV on a budget.

Great value!

This TV replaced a TCL that failed right after the warranty expired. Nice even light dispersion unlike the TCL with a bright picture. Colors are awesome. My expectations were high and so far this TV has held up to them. Sound is not too bad from the TV but I typically use a separate sound system. If you're not an audiophile, it's fine.

Amazing picture but operating system needs work

I bought the vizio m658-g1 tv a month ago and I have learned that vizio makes some of the best picture quality TVs on the market especially for bargain prices. But, and that's a very strong but, the smartcast and vizio operating system is so glitchy and laggy and annoying that it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Even fully updated it is useless. I solved my issues by simply bypassing smartcast and using my Xbox one x as an all around entertainment device. Not a problem since. My problems with smartcast were that the tv would power cycle randomly and most commonly the system or app/s would completely freeze. Several times only fixed by unplugging the tv from the wall. If vizio could fix this problem I'd rate it 5 stars all day. amazing picture, Trash smartcast or vizio operating system. 3 stars.

Manual - awful. Onscrn menus are confusingly split

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The technology is really good, it has an impressive picture. But its impossible to figure iut hiw to operate the TV appropriately. Menus are disjointed & all over the place. Theres a Menu screen for certain settings, one for INPUTS, one for the HOME screen which has apps, and casting icons, but you turn on Airplay in another screen. Connecting a computer by HDMI cable results in constant screen flickering, as well as the TV randomly re-booting.
