I wish I had found this 20 years ago! My house is surrounded by large trees, mainly oaks, which hold their leaves longer than most other trees. So dealing with leaves goes on well into the winter months, with final clean up in the spring. But this spring, clean up was different--I had found the Sun Joe shredder. It made short work of piles and piles of leaves. It was easy to assemble, easy to operate, and worked efficiently. The best part was the beautiful end product which I used to mulch my planting beds. What a bonus! It comes with replacement string, but I ordered an extra package just to have on hand. I've had no trouble replacing worn string. I use a needle nose pliers to help me grab the string and pull it out, but that is only because my 72 year old hands are not all that strong. The adjustable legs are also a great feature. I was able to set it up on a slope and keep it level and stable. I've used it with both wet and dry leaves, including small twigs, and it handles it all with ease. I watch for larger branch pieces as I am loading the hopper and toss them out. If I happen to miss one, and hear the clunking in the shredder, I just shut it off and pull out the piece. No problem. The controls are simple and easily accessible. Count me in as a big fan of this product! Looking forward to using it again in the fall.

This product is easy to use and easy to assemble. Only thing I wish for an improvement is that the legs were longer to support a bag to its full capacity vs being low and the bag will fold over onto itself causing to premature filling or false indication that it is full. I am grateful to make this purchase. It has save me money and time using less time to bag leaves, the efficiency of the shredder I find myself using less bags.

Legs are not stable and require adjustable clamps to secure them from slipping. The unit will not hold standard paper recycling bags, you need to secure them with a bungee cord or the excess leaf particles will choke you. Good for a small or average yard but I don't think it will hold up for anything larger. My WORX WG430 mulcher is far superior.

I grind leaves and garden waste for my compost bin. this is unbelievable. I had it on fine and it ground them down to a powder, even finer then I expected. I fed a 5 gal bucket at a time. and sat the unit in my compost bin. It is light and easy to use. my leaves were moist so I had very little dust. I would buy for friends and family. best way to compost leaves.
