Customer reviews for Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Lotion Set forBut spray but in the lotion form.
I normally use the Almond Smooth or Nourishing Moisture lotions when using the Vasoline Intensive Care Lotion. I haven’t m gotten the Cocoa Radiant one in years, until now. It was pretty obvious something was different when I did a sniff test in the store, but I figured maybe it would be different once I got it actually on my skin. So when o got home and tried it, it became EXTREMELY clear something was VERY different. I remember the vivid cocoa smell from when I tried it awhile back, now nothing about it smells like cocoa or anything remotely similar. This is literally bug stray in a lotion. The citronella is OVERWHELMING and after reading the ingredients (which are much more chemically than previous formulas), Hydroxycitronellal was in it. And after doing some light research on this chemical, I came to the conclusion that the bad effects it potentially can have on our skin and bodies heavily outweigh the good it does. And after reading about a few of the other ingredients, it’s evident that the “bad ingredients” they want to appear to have done away with are in a sense still presence just in different forms. For instance, Limonene molecules can react with the air and create formaldehyde. And not to even mention the Ingredients in this lotion that are extremely toxic to dogs, geraniol, linalool, etc. My dogs is always around me, always licking me, and not only can these ingredients make them sickly, it can severely damage their major organs. I understand many of these ingredients are in safe moderations in the formula and they do have beneficial properties in regards to the lotions and what it’s meant to do and what not. But this one has really freaked me out. And I LOVE Vaseline products and I have been using them loyally my entire life but this Cocoa Radiant lotion and the rabbit hole I went down on the new ingredients (new and old) are making me want to never put this stuff on my skin again.. I know if I started researching all my other lotions and body care products I’d be freaked out about many other brands as well, but Vasoline is one of my top favorites and one I’ve grown up on and swore by my whole life. But anywho, to sum it all up, the Cocoa Radiant Intensive Care Lotion is citronella scented not cocoa, so if you want to literally smell like actual bug spray repellent than this is the lotion for you. And research the ingredients you’re putting onto your skin, people. It’s scary. I’ve never been the person to really care about ingredients like that but after everything I read tonight I am definitely going to start paying a little more attention. VASOLINE, I love you, guys. I really do. But this ain’t it.

Reformulated as of February 2025
I'm so disappointed that they changed the formula of this product without notifying consumers on the label. This has been my holy grail body and hand moisturizer for 10+ years and I've recommended it to countless people but cannot any longer. It used to sink in rapidly and moisturize so well, now my skin feels dry again after a few minutes and it feels like there's a film on my skin, like so many other subpar products on the market. If you compare the ingredients you can see that they've removed the shea butter and isopropyl palmitate, along with many other changes. Old ingredients: AQUA, PETROLATUM, GLYCERIN, STEARIC ACID, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE, GLYCOL STEARATE, DIMETHICONE, TRIETHANOLAMINE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA) SEED BUTTER BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, CETYL ALCOHOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, PARFUM, METHYLPARABEN, MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE, CARBOMER, PROPYLPARABEN, DISODIUM EDTA, STEARAMIDE AMP, CARAMEL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE New ingredients: WATER, GLYCERIN, PETROLATUM, STEARIC ACID, DIMETHICONE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PEG-100 STEARATE, ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, GLYCERYL STEARATE, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA) SEED BUTTER, PHENOXYETHANOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), METHYLPARABEN, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, XANTHAN GUM, PROPYLPARABEN, DISODIUM EDTA, STEARAMIDE AMP, COUMARIN, GERANIOL, HEXYL CINNAMAL, HYDROXYCITRONELLAL, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, CARAMEL
Horrific smell
I am not sure what you did to your formula, but it legit smells like insect repellent and made my skin break out almost instantly! I've used this in the past many times and loved it. Now, I'll make sure to never use it again. It also made my skin sticky!! I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Nice Product
The Cocoa Radiant lotion goes on nice and easy. I don't have to work it in to my skin and it is not greasy. I knocked off one star because the only thing that I believe needs improving is the pump. When there is less than a third of lotion in the container, it is almost impossible to completely finish the lotion in the container just by using the pump. You would have to get a pliers to unscrew the cap for the pump and then invert and shake the container to get at the rest of the lotion.
Love it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this. Smells great and works great on the skin. It doesn't leave your skin feeling oily after using it. It's a possibility it does work for 48 hours but I haven't tested that theory yet. It gives the skin a natural glow and you can tell you're moisturized.
Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this lotion and it works great. I have sensitive skin that gets dry and itchy. It helps moisturize my skin and leaves it feeling super soft. It doesn't irritate my skin and it leaves it glowing all day long
Horrible smell and gives my skin a rash
I have been using this product for over 10 years. I am so incredibly disappointed with the new formula. After putting it on my body, I literally started smelling like spoiled food, almost fish like smell. Absolutely disgusting. I even broke out in rash, as if I had allergic response to it. I had to trash it and go looking for something different from another company. I cannot believe you screwed up a beautiful product this badly. Please take into consideration our feedback and bring the old product back.

Comfortable and Moisturizing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lotion is comfortable, moisturizing, non-greasy, silky and smooth. The bottle makes controlling the amount of lotion you get out easy. The cocoa scent is strong but not overwhelming. The included Vaseline jelly ingredient helps the moisturizing to stick around for a long time to stop the need to reapply often.
Perfect for start to summer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion helped my winter-dried skin get ready for summer! Just one application moisturized my skin. It passed the test for Dry Skin Lotion. The scent is nice. I should have Radiant Glow all summer.
Works well!
This lotion works really well in keeping my skin soft and moisturized. I had a bottle of this a long time ago and loved the scent. I just bought a new bottle last night and the scent is not the same at all. It smells like chemicals. I’m so disappointed because I loved the smell from my old bottles. I gave this a 3 star because it still works well and I only use it at night so no one is going to smell it on me outside of my home. Once this bottle is gone I probably will purchase one that is fragrance free.
