Great value still looks good!
Just got my 85 inch Tu8000 delivered. I have another tv that's a QLED Frame TV. This tv is not a QLED or as thin. However it is still quite impressive. I tweaked some settings and it looks pretty darn good without a major dent in my pocket book. The tv is in a basement where it is dark. There is a little reflection with the lights turned all the way up but it's to be expected and it's not bad. For the movie experience just dim the lights and it's not bad. I did a firmware update right away and worked great. The built in speaker isn't going to please an audiophile but it sounds loud and has decent volume. I attached a soundbar and it improved the sound for a movie but for regular tv watching the built in speakers work great. This tv comes with the one connect remote like other tv's in the QLED line have. The menus are just about the same and it offers great connectivity with the Samsung app as well as many streaming services. I did connect a streaming player to an input before I mounted the tv as I will probably not have that chance again since it's hanging on the wall. I was a little hesitant to buy after some of the beating this tv took on professional reviews. However, it looks pretty darn good with 4K content. Viewing angles are not too bad because the tv is so large you really have to sit in the proper areas anyways. If you are stuck on the internet and looking for an affordable good looking tv this is it. If your looking for the specs than you may want to look at the QLED line. For a majority of people looking for a big tv this will do.
Complete satisfaction
I have never purchased a better TV, not been more proud to own one. Not only is this thing just GIANT, it's very light!! Wall mounting was a breeze! The picture is crystal clear, the setup was shockingly easy... there's just really nothing bad I have to say about this tv. Best money I've ever spent on an electronic.
BELOW EXPECTATIONS
This is my second Samsung TV 8000 Series. I also have a 65" from 2015 that has a truly great picture. Granted this is a less expensive set, but I still expected a lot more. The picture is pretty dull. Unless you start digging in convoluted settings, you most likely will end up with a feeling that the picture is dark no matter what. The way I dealt with that is through setting minimum brightness in Ambient mode, that was originally set to 9 (out of 50). That setting is buried in the ECO settings in General. And still, the picture is not as great as I expected. The other thing is the remote. I really do not like it.In order to get to settings, you need to go to the Home hub with excess to everything- sources, settings, apps, etc. It is a multi-step process of getting anywhere that is annoying. I would rather have a screen for Smart TV like in the past with easy navigation, and a separate buttons for sources and menu. The bottom line, I think that Samsung made a mistake on making a 8000 series TV perform and operate like a much cheaper model. I would rather pay a bit more, but have a real thing.

TV died in about 10 days
this is a beautiful tv. great color, perfect size and features. it also died 10 days after i brought it home and set it up. while watching tv, i happened to be holding the remote in my hand and it vibrated and then the tv went off. it now cycles on and off, and thats it. have talked to samsung, and supposedly a repair person will come this week to fix the tv in my home. honestly, i'll believe it when i see it. extremely disapointing. but, it was fantastic for 10 days.
Mark: I am very sorry that you are experiencing issues with your TU8000 TV and are currently waiting for a service appointment. We appreciate your patience. While you are waiting, you may want to try the following: 1) Check the power cable for damage and proper connection. 2) If the cable is bent, broken, kinked, pinched, pressed excessively (possibly by a heavy object on top of it) or damaged, this is likely the cause of the issue. Replace the cable. 3) Unplug the TV from the wall outlet for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. 4) If the power cycling allows enough time in between powering on and off, try updating the TV to the latest firmware. There is a risk, however. If the TV turns off during the software update, it could damage the TV. Updates can take up to 30 minutes depending on network speed, so if the TV is not turning off too frequently, try updating the software. 5) TVs which can connect to SmartThings can be turned on using compatible devices, sometimes automatically. However, if abnormal "power on" signals are sent through the wireless network, they will trigger this function and make the TV turn on. If you do not want this function, navigate to Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings > Power On with Mobile, and turn the setting off. Should you need further assistance or have questions even after your service appointment, please contact Samsung Customer Support: 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST, 7 days a week Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link in the upper right corner of the homepage for: 1) Contact Us Options (LiveChat, Remote Support, Facebook, Twitter) 2) Product Support 3) Manuals and Downloads 4) Warranty Info 5) Product Registration: Registering your product gives you access to easy warranty support, convenient opt-in to special promos and offers, faster troubleshooting and service, and quick notification of system updates 6) Samsung Community: A great resource for getting help from Samsung moderators and customers and more 7) …and more product, repair, order, and care options ~ Samsung Solutions
Overall a High Quality TV
we bought this tv for our bedroom to replace a smaller one and it is the perfect size for us. my only criticism is that the on-screen menu is very small and the cursor does not highlight the menu selection window (for example, switching from netflix to cable) so it is hard to see what you have selected. (and i do not have any vision problems!) also, there is no rhyme or reason to the order of the menu. it is totally random. the picture and sound quality are stellar and the remote is ergonomic and comfortable. the set-up was very easy, but you are forced to give it permission to spy on you in order to use it, which comes with the territory of "smart devices" these days. samsung, get the menu together and i am sure you would have many more 5 star reviews for this model.
Not the smartest Smart TV
I bought it a few weeks ago because our previous 50” TV stopped working. Thought I'd jump into the 4K Smart TV market. It's alright and the picture looks crisp, but the controls and interface leave a lot to be desired. Coming from Roku and Apple TV platform, Samsung's UI seems overly complicated. There is a weird pop up menu that doesn't shut down the app, so it continues to run in the background. Not so bad, except for the massive delay in response from the controller. Additionally, I've already had two instances where the TV would not turn on unless I unplugged it and plugged it in again, and another instance where a couple streaming services wouldn't work unless I shut off the TV and turned it back on again. This is my first experience with a Smart TV that wasn't a Roku smart TV and I think I might be sticking to a well established UI like Roku in the future. Too bad, since I was really excited at first about upgrading.
N8Dogg, I am sorry that you are experiencing glitches with your TU8000 Crystal UHD Smart TV. To optimize the smart TV performance, please try Device Care option under the Support Menu. Go to Settings > Support> Device Care > Start Device Care. Please also check that your TV is running the latest firmware. Using your TV's remote, navigate to Settings, and select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now. New updates will be downloaded and installed on your TV. Updates usually take a few minutes; please do not turn off the TV until the update is complete. When the update is finished, the TV will restart automatically. If there aren't any new updates, select OK to exit. You may want to enable automatic updates for conveniences. Select Settings- Support- Software Update, then select Auto Update. I hope this helps to solve your concerns. Terrible Product
tv has been riddled with issues from the first day. slow processing, middle of the line picture and sound. after just over a year of ownership it started with horizontal lines that were conveniently out of the warranty date. now the tv wont even turn on without flashing and turning off. a terrible product and the reason i will no longer buy any samsung products from here on out.
TV has faulty screen
this tv arrived with a faulty screen. the problem is minor and wasn't immediately noticeable upon receipt. however, after a few weeks i noticed 2 "smudges" on the screen about the size of fingertips that i think are small clusters of dead pixels. the picture quality is good for this tv, except for the aforementioned problem i have with the dead pixels.
Great…until is suddenly stopped working.
Great…. Until it suddenly stopped working after an automatic software update. Sometimes the tv will shut off/on on its own, other times the picture will become suddenly pixelated/distorted, other times it will toggle to ‘Samsung tv' on its own while I'm using another streaming app. The tv is only a little over a year old - total bummer. This really speaks to the downtrending quality of Samsung tv's. Buyer beware.
Display Panel broken
the display panel went out after 14 months, just after the manufacturer's warranty expired. the repair costs more than the tv did. extremely dissapointed. i paid more for a samsung thinking there was better quality control than the other brands, turns out they're just as bad, if not worse.
