excellent unit to have

i live on a mountain bluff on a dead end road at the edge of the electric utility service region, well outside of any town or city. power outages are not unusual. this unit is reliable and quiet and works like a charm. it was a part of our going in plan when we chose to build in this location and i'm glad to have it included. would do it again and would recommend it to other to consider.

Overall a great product.

I like everything about the generator. The only thing I would change is the battery charger. Myself and two friends have the same model and all of us had to replace the battery charger within six months. We replaced with aftermarket charger/conditioner and works great. It has worked great ever since.

Great Generator!

I love this generator! It really does power the entire house! After installation, we ran a 1-hour test. It ran everything that was on in the house, at the time (A/C, 2 refrigerators, hot water heater, multiple computers, monitors, TVs, printer, radios, all the lights in the house, a coffee pot, etc.). We were only running at about half-load. So, there would be no problem using the stove, washing clothes, running the dishwasher, etc. Just wow! Portable generators don't even compare to this unit.

Hurricane Sandy

I had just completed installing the 20KW Centurian with the automatic transfer switch less than a month ago and the unit performed flawlessly during Hurricane Sandy...automatic on for loss of power and auto off when utility power was restored. Great peace of mind...the unit is quiet and and reliable. I installed this unit after we had the destructive "derecho" in New Jersey on June 30 and lost power for 5 days...never again will we suffer through a power outage...

Good but could be better.

First time the generator was called upon for a three day period, ran low on oil.. Note oil was full at the onset. Needs a larger oil reservoir. Tech. said oil needs to be added after two to three days of use. What if you are away for a week? Power came on any quickly off, was told "only one leg came on" however this resulted in the generator stopping and an alarm signal came on. Tech had to come out to reset. Finally neighbor bought a Cummins 20KW generator, it is much quieter, and has a remote that is in the house. It allows you to turn the generator on and off in the house, and monitor the load.that is being used.Very nice feature that Generac does not have. Plus you can control remote online. Generac is good but Cummins is better 66 vs. 63 dB. plus a remote..

Service peovider made this a great product

Very happy with this generator. it handles the load with no problems. I know that this system will give me great service as the installers did a great job and you would not know that it was just installed. I do like the low noise level on this 20 KW. When in the house you would not know you are on backup power. This generator is one that you can buy and know you have purchased a very good quality generator

This is the best home insurance policy we have.

Because we live in a rural area, we installed a Generac 20kW unit in June 2010 following an electrical power outage the previous February that lasted 9 days. The local dealer was excellent to deal with, on-site inspection prior to installation determined need & size to consider. We have almost whole house electrics on this unit with exception of electric clothes dryer and electric stove. Unit tests itself each Monday night for 12 minutes on schedule and we have had three power failures that caused unit to do what it is supposed to do. The best sound for a homeowner is the sound of the generator running. Local dealer provides twice a year servicing. No worries for us and the unit/provider are the best. Have recommended Generac to neighbors.

Excellent Standby Generator

This is an awesome product. It powers the entire house with the automatic transfer switch and digital load management, and protects against brownouts by automatically shedding load which exceeds capacity. During a recent hurricane my home became the "spot" for all friends and family to come knowing full well that we would have all the creature-comforts, including lights, television, warm food, cold beer and air conditioning. If you are thinking of a generator, it only costs a little more to go first class. My only small gripe with the installation instructions was the fact that they called for bonding the neutral and ground (within the non-SE Transfer switch) downstream from the first point of disconnect. However, Generac technical support sent me an floating neutral grounding bar and solved the concern.

Great Generator for Alaska

Living in Alaska has it's challenges. We deliberated for a while on which fuel type to use and decided propane was the best for our varying weather conditions. The delivery was good, though the generator case was superficially damaged/dents, no internal parts were hurt. Again, nothing is cheap in Alaska and electrician install ran about $1,000. Including an "inside-the-house" controller and cold weather package as standard would have been put this product over the top for value. Additionally, the accessories for these are not cheap, including maintenance package. Overall, it is a great product, does what I want it to, and appears reliable. This will be its first full winter with a permanent hook up, so we shall see what mother nature brings us again this time around. Thanks Generac

The BEST!

I've had my Generac for just one year and it has been a blessing! It's only had to be used 1x for about 3hrs, but with a finished basement and the worry of having the sump-pump not to have power during an outage is one thing I don't worry about. It's no louder than a mower, so the little bit of noise from it is not really noticeable. I Love It! Thanks Generac for a great product!
