Watch is great, voice command is not

I had the watch for about 2 weeks. It is a great watch. I like the health metrics, garmin pay, workout tracking and notifications/alerts. The screen is great for displaying the notifications and easy to read. The biggest disappointment is the voice command. This is the reason why I chose this watch over the Vivoactive 5 is for the ability to use my watch to respond to messages with my voice and to initiate commands like timers and calling contacts. None of this has worked with the watch so far. The voice command screen just cycles and doesn't seem to connect to the phone. My big wish was to respond to text messages I received on my watch with a voice command, come to find out this is not possible. I am considering returning the watch for the vivoactive 5.

Garmin Venu 3 - Excellent Multisport Watch

I hesitate buying the Venu 3 for several months. I already have a Garmin Edge 1040 Solar for my cycling data, so I was not sure I would gain much from the watch. I was really surprised when I noticed the variety of sports that the watch will track. I will primarily be using the Venu 3 for swimming and indoor cycling. I have constant pulse monitoring; occasionally, I check my O2 saturation and monitoring for atrial fibrillation; and every morning I get a sleep report, detailing the quality of my sleep, including the time in REM sleep. The Venu 3 was very easy to setup and use. I am pleased with my purchase.

Venu 3 is a worthy upgrade

After 5 years of wearing my Garmin VivoActive 3 everyday and being very happy with it, I was looking for an upgrade - and the Venu 3 is definitely an upgrade! The battery life is great, the screen is bright and much higher resolution, and the voice operation works well. Along with many additional new features, it's working very well for me for both mountain biking and gym workouts, as well as everyday use. I'm really happy with this new watch.

I really want to like this watch, but...

I've had this watch for a couple of weeks now and find it's just OK. My biggest problem is getting it to work effectively with Garmin Connect. I'm working my way through the troubleshooting checklist but it's painful. For example, I'm instructed to hold the watch face for a few seconds to get to the setup screen, but setup doesn't appear! Connecting to bluetooth takes such a looooooong time zzzzzz. The buttons on the watch aren't labeled as explained in the trouble shooting guide. It's all very painful.

I absolutely love it

I received the Venu 3 as a Christmas gift and I love all of the features and the screen display is beautiful. It fits comfortably on my wrist and has an incredible battery life. Best. Gift. Ever. I had a Forerunner 45 before and the Venu 3 launched me into the future.

Amazing technology in this

It can do so many things. I printed out the user's manual. It was 40 pages..printed on both sides. As time goes on I am finding my way around the watch. I track my heart rate when I work out, my sleep cycles, I tried the EEG function, I like the fact I can change the watch face. Need to find one that has military time. I like how it connects to my phone and vibrates when I get an email or a txt. Still lots to learn about it and you keep adding new functions.

Wonderful improvement from my Vivoactive 3

I have been enjoying my VA3 for 5years and it was hard to decide to switch because of the VA3 battery life. I was pleased to see the Venu3 had a comparable battery life with the OLED screen. My concern going from the VA3's MIP display that does excellent in the bright beach sun and waves was equally matched with the Venus OLED display.

Everything I was looking for!

I have been an Apple Watch user for years. I even dabbled in Fitbit from time to time when I wanted to really focus on my health. I always dumped the Fitbit and went back to Apple Watch because I just got bored. However, I purchased my husband and myself each a Garmin Venu 3 a little over a month ago and I am still as ecstatic about it as I was the first day! I don’t see my love of Garmin going anywhere!! Set up of the Venu 3 was so easy, paired flawlessly with our iPhones, and they charged fast! We made it through a week of challenging each other to steps challenges, tracking sleep cycles, getting copious amounts of notifications from our phones, treadmill workouts, and just frivolous scrolling all the features on our Venu’s before ever having to charge. We even decided so we wouldn’t “cheat” each other out of steps we’d charge them together so we plugged them up while we decided to watch some TV together. Again, another very quick charge, because by time our show was over we put them back on! I love the ability to download connect IQ and change my watch face. I found the perfect one that has every feature right on my watch face that I want to see (and it’s customizable if I change my mind) plus I can change the colors to match my mood or the holiday that’s near! The real part of the pros of the Venu 3 for me, thought, are the fact that I’m moving more than I ever have. Hitting that step goal every day is so satisfying that I keep going back for more! Also- tracking my water intake. As someone who’s never drank much in her life ever, I’m now drinking what a normal human should lol! I have something to look forward to (meeting that goal!) and it’s not only affected my mood, but also my physical health! My blood pressure is lowering naturally and my glucose isn’t all over the board anymore. I’m feeling so much better in the last few weeks and I absolutely attribute that to my Garmin! So if you’re on the fence… Get it! You won’t regret it. I simply cannot wait for spring and summer.. I’m excited to utilize my watch on some hikes and see what kind of stats I come up with then! And you never know, my first 5K may end up being soon too! From someone who sit on the couch most of the day… if you want some motivation, get the Garmin!

Great features

The Venu 3 was a birthday gift from my son. I have been using Fitbit Flex for years but because this birthday I turned 67 he wanted to give me a closer look at my health. Learning all of the features has been a bit of a challenge. The Venu 3 is larger than what I have been using which is another change. So far it’s good, check back in a few months.

Leaves very little to be desired

The AMOLED screen is bright and clear. The battery life is pretty great but if you are very active and using it to track multiple activities a day (eg. walking, plus biking, plus a weigh lifting session) then do not expect the battery to last much longer than a week to a week and a half. It’s lightweight, stylish, and packed with health, fitness, HRV, and sleep-tracking features. The large screen is easy to navigate, although there's a learning curve. There are a plethora of custom watch faces you can download, such as the one in my photo, which is packed with a ton of information, including steps, weather, flights of stairs climbed in a day, etc. My watch face is probably a bit overboard for most people, but the point remains that you can get as much or as little information on your main screen as you want. One of my favorite features of the app is the custom workout feature. However, it does not always calculate the number of reps accurately. It is easy to edit while working out, or go back and edit the reps after the workout, though. I also love that this watch tracks more specialized and niche sports, such as disc golf and snowboarding. The list is pretty extensive and it actually makes me want to try new sports. My one point of critical feedback concerns the text response and phone call features. While you can receive and respond to text messages, your only option for text response is to use pre-fab responses such as 'on my way' or 'I'll call you back'. I imagine there must be some sort of technical limitation, but seeing as I can use the assistant feature to dictate a custom one-off text message and send it, it would be great if we could use the assistant to create custom responses to texts that I receive. I also have not been able to get the assistant to work while my phone is locked despite researching and toggling multiple settings (I have a fairly new Android phone). Overall, this Garmin watch is a fantastic blend of fitness tracking and smartwatch features, with pretty great battery life and display quality. Highly recommended!
