This is my third Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. This is the best so far. And, they've all been great smokers. This one keeps very consistent heat throughout the cook. It's easy to use, and easy to maintain. I say it's tough because we had a tornado go through close to the house. It blew the smoker off of the table I had built for it. All that broke was a door hinge. And that part was readily, and quickly available on the web site.

I gave my hubby a digital electric smoker as a surprise Christmas gift last year. He was more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! He has turned out some incredible meals this year from his smoker. He has tried about every meat imaginable as well as smoked Mac and cheese and queso with delicious success!!! It has truly made having to eat at home way more fun. I don't think I will be able to top last year's Christmas surprise.

I bought this unit a few months ago. It was a floor model from Field and Stream. Knowing that, I was prepared for it to be damaged, but it fired up just fine in the store and I brought it home. Everything worked great except the Bluetooth and the app, which are clunky and frankly unnecessary to the function of the unit. Who is going to keep their phone in Bluetooth range for an entire 14 hour smoke? Deleted the app after the first time. Indicator light for the smoke box on/off status just stopped working sometimes, but would come back on if you unplug the unit and reboot it (not just turn off at the switch). Those things were minor and just annoying. Next, the meat probe stopped working. Turns out that the stainless braid on the wire is the ground and if it detaches from either end of the wire, the probe stops working. That's pretty normal for a temp sensor design, but for something intended for food and to be washed, I would expect a better design. Finally, the unit stopped working and threw fault codes for the main temperature sensor/element. I have purchased almost every spare part still available for the unit so I can keep it up and running or rebuild it as necessary. Considering the discount I received at purchase for the floor model, I was able to get those parts and still be under the original retail price for the unit. That being said, if I had paid retail this review would be very different. Also, to do it over, I wouldn't have purchased the electronic controlled model now that I see how easily it fails and/or glitches. Also, the glass door is totally unnecessary (can't see through it when smoking anyway) and a heat loss liability. I've learned that in the case of smokers, simple and efficient is preferable.

Replaced my previous 30" Masterbuilt smoker (10 years old and still functioning) with this larger model. There is room to smoke so many things all at once. The thermostat maintains temperature spot on. The window allows view of food without opening door. The wheels make it easy to relocate.

Works good, makes great food, but have had continuing issues with the wiring to the heating element burning up. I have had to rewire several times and have just replaced the heating element using the wiring the came with it. We'll see how long it lasts. In addition, the temperature has begun difficult to control, with as much as 50 degrees fluctuation. I have to set it to 190 to achieve a 225 measured cooking temp, then it fluctuates from 225 actual to as low as 170 or so before it comes back on. Have to constantly watch it to keep near proper temp.

I bought this smoker because I have a large family who loves smoked meat! Ribs, chicken, and do not even get me started on the turkeys! Smoked turkey is the only way it should be cooked! It saves time and energy tending a fire while still giving a delicious smoky flavor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my 40" smoker 8 years ago. Used it almost weekly before it finally died. It worked great and put out great quality smoked food. It's my second favorite smoker I've owned of the 10+ I've had, 1st being the gravity 1050 I currently have.

Pros: bigger than i thought when ordering it. temperature stayed very stable- even on a windy day. Cons: In order to turn on the smoker you have to enter a smoke time. I want to turn it on, get it to temp, put the meat in, then start the time. the app and bluetooth don't stay connected very well.

but I love it. I was able to turn it on, set the temp, and time from my phone. The only thing that I have found wrong is that the directions do not explain how to put the smoker into bluetooth connect mode. Couldn't even find it online, but I eventually figured it out.

This is good as an addition to a collection of smokers like I have, or your only smoker if you have limited space. It is great for longer cooks since you don't have to add pellets or charcoal, just a few scoops of wood chips in the first hour or two. One drawback is the small size. You can't fit a full brisket or a full slab of ribs so keep that in mind.
