Producted worked fine for 3-4 months. After 1st battery chance it was slow even after swapping with brandenew batteries.Then it just stopped working. I could hear the mechanics working but it just wouldn't open. Ninestar promised to ship a new lid due to warranty and here I am 4months later, still no lid. I have thrown this out and do not recommend.

* Convenient automatic open trash can but may open with nothing in front it, and scary when watching a scary movie with my husband not home. * Nice, oblong shape to fit in narrower spaces, the black top felt plasticy and cheap.* Model takes 2 D batteries which is powerful and long gevity, but hard to get such battery, and they are not cheap. * Battery chambers rusted and top became non-functional.

I needed a trash can for our guest house so I bought one at local walmart while doing grocery shopping. Well? I got home and installed batteries, turned it on and nothing worked, and have to go back and get a new one, and hope this one works, it is a fair price compare with ITouch we bought on line, hope it will last.

Hi! Moved into our new home and we were anxious to set up our new trash can! More classy than I would ever have pursued, but it looked so nice with all of my new appliances and since there is not someplace for me to tuck the trash can into a corner, this seemed perfect and it covers, conceals any odors and I couldn't be happier! Until after about 30-40 days although it appears to be lighting up and working as it was, the lid no longer opens. If I can open it manually, it will not stay open, so we've had to remove the lid entirely. Yes, we replaced the batteries, same results. Is there something that we are missing? We really do not want to return our pretty trash can =) Afterall, since when could you use pretty and trash in the same sentence??

I was very happy with this product. Then at two years old the lid stopped working. I tried changing all the batteries and I cleaned everything - nothing helped. Contacted Mfg Ninestars - did not receive a reply. It should work for longer than two years, and the Mfg should reply to inquiries. I DON'T RECOMMEND BUYING THIS.

Even with new batteries, the lid opens when it wants to. The inside containers don't come out, so it's a hassle taking the bags out. The plastic lid liner is flimsy so it doesn't hold the bags good. I hate I ordered this trash can. I used it about two weeks and it's been in the box ever since. I put it to the side to return it, and began using my old Walmart trash can again. I forgot to return it, and now I'm stuck with it.

Worked great almost a week then lid just stopped working. Put in new pack of batteries even though last pack same age as a trash can. Worked intermittently for one more week then just stopped again. More new batteries again but didn't help. Don't buy it.

After about 6 months the trash can stopped fully opening and closing with the sensor only partially opens. Have changed batteries multiple times but very disappointed in how long this lasted. Was great for the first 6 months but after that the sensor is useless and have to open and close by hand.

The tall kitchen garbage can works perfectly and we are completely satisfied with it until 3 months later. It stays open all the time and only closes when you wave your hand in front of the sensor. Waits a few seconds, opens again and stays open indefinitely until u wave your hand again. The company who manufactures the cans, had a card inside asking NOT to return product but to contact them instead. I did that within a hour of opening it, and included this video. That was 2 days ago without a response. I’d love to give this a 5 star review, but seeing as only have of what I received works and the manufacturer doesn’t want to make it right. I’m afraid 1 star is all I can give.

So this thing uses batteries, the lid is small so debris collects all around edges, and the sensor stopped working (probably due to location and debris) after a few months, (tried replacing batteries- still would only open with buttons after sensor stopped working) It was not any good- ended up buying a foot one where entire top opens- way less messy and can wash it with a hose... this one really can't be cleaned another serious design flaw.
