Professional Documentation, Good Features

Good product from a a great company. Quiet and efficient. Only problem encountered was wrong part number specified in manual for high altitude kit. Customer service quickly corrected this at no cost to me and assured me documentation was being revised.

The features I was looking for

I researched portable generators thoroughly to use for household back-up in the event of a power loss. Upon receipt (it arrived very well packaged) and after filling with oil and connecting the battery, the generator would not start. I open the side panel and found that a wiring harness, which apparently actuated the automatic choke, was not connected. I connected the harness and the unit started and ran perfectly. If it had not been for the above mentioned issue, I would have rated the unit five stars. I would highly recommend this generator to a prospective buyer.

Happy Camper

I bought this to power up our camper, this is our first camper, to include first owned generator. With everything running, were only at 50% power, with AC running full max. It's quiet, and the duel fuel is great for Boondocking- no gas, no problem, flip a switch and GO! 5 out 5 stars all the way!

Excellent Generator!

We just bought this generator at the beginning of December knowing the we get many power outages in the winter months. We just had to give it a trial run and it worked beautifully! We had zero issues with startup. The unit is quiet, much quite than we anticipated, which we love! The remote start is a really neat bonus feature as well. We're confident this is the perfect generator for our families needs. Highly recommend!

Good size and quiet.

Picked this generator because reviews said it was quiet and had adequate power. I also needed the dual fuel option and a remote. I was disappointed to find the remote does not work. I am contacting the company tomorrow. Hoping this issue will be resolved.

Get the electric start…don't be cheap

I just got this generator for camping where there is no power like a music festival. I had hoped this would be quiet enough that it would allow for minimal noise while trying to sleep with the pop out ends of of hybrid travel trailer out. I'm not sure that will be the case. Don't get me wrong it's quiet and when I'm in the camper with the ends folded in, the generator running about ten feet away and the ac blower running in the camper, you don't really hear it running, however I think with the canvas ends out, we unfortunately, probably will hear it running plain as day. So it's definitely not a quiet as I would like. Outside of that it is well built. Feels sturdy with not cheap plastic. The pull handle is nice but you can't tilt the generator back at all without the risk of spilling gas/oil so it's not meant for long distance moving. I'd have two people one on each handle for movement. The dimensions of the generator at 17” at the base (wheel to wheel), about 19” tall from the ground and about 26 long from the wheel to the front. Use this information when you are looking for something to store the generator in. So far I have put it through the break in period and changed the oil. I bought a two way siphon pump because the oil drain plug makes a mess (saw this in other reviews and videos online). This made getting the oil out very easy. I then found a .6L bottle that I refill from a larger bottle so I know I can just dump the bottle in. This makes each change a little quicker, less wasted oil and helps eliminate opportunities to spill from over fill. I love the digital read out area. No questions about how much fuel is left, how much run time left on the remaining fuel, how much power you are using, time run for maintenance purposes and voltage being produced to prevent damaging anything. I did plug my rv surge protector in which has a diagnostic light and indicating there is no ground?? Perhaps this generator is not bonded?? For now I have the camper plugged directly into the generator as I believe the generator is regulating the power coming out and there a surge protector is not needed. I'd like some further explanation about this from Westinghouse but it seems to maintain solid voltage around 124. Running the generator and my camper RV today in the 94* NC heat. Will monitor voltage during the course of operation. But the gauges and info the five are awesome! I see the failure point on this generator being the pull start so I would encourage anyone looking at them to pony up, don't be cheap like I was and get the electric start! I think having that battery start option with the pull as an emergency back up will extend the life of your generator and prevent it from having to go to a service person to have the pull cord replaced (I'm not even sure where there are any Westinghouse service folks near me, yikes!). I would like to see a few things on future models. First, a better oil draining system. Second, an easier way to drain the fuel tank and easier access to the fuel shut off switches when you want to drain the fuel line and carburetor during long term storage. After this weekend I most likely won't use this again until a power outage as we don't do a ton of off the grid camping except for music festivals, which we are unfortunately reaching the end of that season. Third I would like to see some eye hooks permanently attached to the unit for locking purposes. You can lock through the handles but something on the sides would be nice. Fourth, improved insulation to further damper the sound of the engine. Fifth, I would like to see the exhaust heat redirected up, away from the grass. I have two dead spots in my yard from the the generator running and killing the grass with the exhaust. This is also problematic because I bought the Igen Generator umbrella which says it can be used during operations in the description but based on the heat coming from the exhaust, I'm not so sure I feel comfortable with that, I'll have to read the directions from the umbrella and go from there…. I will probably be sending the umbrella back and purchasing a small easy up to put up over the generator if it needs to be used during any kind of in-climate weather. I feel very comfortable knowing I have this generator that can easily power my 19 foot hybrid travel trailer. I think there are definitely some improvements that can be made to produce a more superior product but overall I am VERY happy after two years or research and questioning myself about different brands that I finally purchased this Westinghouse dual fuel inverted generator. I hope to use it for years to come and that Westinghouse stands behind their product warranty without too much (or any) headache!

Nice Generator!

I have had this for a couple weeks. Seems to be good generator. The dual fuel feature is great and seems to work seemlessly. The generator started about half way through the first pull. I also like how the digital data center tells you everything you need to know

seems like a good unit

Have not used it yet. It started easy and runs well. Waiting for the electrician to tie it into the house panel. Seems well built, quiet, good quality. Smaller and quieter than expected. Only issue was the instructions say to add the entire bottle of oil that came with it. However mine already had a small amount of oil in it (pretesting?) so it overflowed and caused a mess. I feel good about this purchase so far.

Great Quiet Generator

This is my second 4500df generator. It is super quiet and easy to operate. One note for set up, instructions state to add the whole bottle of oil they include, which is great, but each time it over flowed the oil and made a mess. So don't add the whole bottle without looking at the level. Otherwise it is recommended.

Looks great

Bought this to use exclusively with propane. Received item in an unbroken box, with both the oil cover and the battery cover missing. Also the remote start key fob was in the battery compartment. Also the unit was missing the battery tie down strap.
