Great Inverter Generator

Easy assembly. All tools included with complete instructions with pictures that were easy to follow. in the user guide. This generator ran my computers, routers, TV, microwave and our propane wall furnace that has electronic controls. It produces clean power and sine wave. Of course it also runs my lights and refrigerator that can operate on a standard generator. I recommend this generator without reservations. It is a great unit. I'd buy it again if I ever need another generator.

Great Buy would recommend

Worked great out of the box. I chose the model without the electric start as it is lighter, cheaper, and has no battery to keep charged/replace. Runs well on propane, however, I have not been able to start it on propane. Not really any issue as I'll be keeping it full with treated gas. . Read the manual and make sure you follow the break-in process.

Small, quiet, easy to use

Just bought this so have no long term usage history. I bought it because of how highly rated Westinghouse generators are on some of the more reliable rating sites. It is small, relatively light, and quiet when running. I have have had a terrible time maintaining gas powered open-frame generators since I only use them as back-ups to the house power. I bought this specifically because of the option of using propane, which I intend as the ONLY fuel I will use in it. I also like the option of running two generators in parallel which (with a second generator) offers me the capability of a "whole house" system, since I have a small house. My only carp is the operators manual does not cover everything you need to know and some items are contradictory. That is understandable in that I am sure Westinghouse is constantly improving their products and consumers cannot afford for them to constantly reprint the manuals. Specifically, in stopping, the manual says to "turn the battery switch to the off position" whilst the Quick Start Guide says to "Put the engine run/stop switch in the RUN position and pull choke". (Yes I read all the little pieces of paper that came with the generator). Obviously the Quick Start Guide is talking about an open frame generator since there is no readily accessible choke on my model. One piece of paper says the the parallel cable are included, another says they are not. (They are not) A battery charger is included with NO instructions on when, where, or how to use it, and the manual states that the battery charges whenever the generator is running. I do have concerns with the long-term durability since it is covered in plastic and two of the doors popped off while I was unpacking it, but everything went back together properly. All in all, so far, I am very pleased with the generator. The next power outage will be the true test. Hurricane season is coming.

Great Features!

I bought this a week ago and I must say this is the generator / inverter is the best for me. It modulates the motor following power demande and thus reduces the noise a lot. Dual fuel, gas and propane wow. Maximum power is 11Kw with gas! All this at a great price. Bravo Westinghouse!

Impressive

After a great deal of research I decided on this generator due to its great reviews, low decibel level, and high wattage to cost ratio. It arrived today and I followed the instructions on adding oil, connecting battery, and making the necessary connection to the propane tank. The unit cranked on first push of the remote and I ran three different accessories at various wattage to test output. This generator is very quiet for its size and it seems the noise level does not significantly increase when I increase load (which changes RPM in ECO mode). Overall at this point I am very satisfied with my purchase.

An impressive piece of equipment

Purchased a little over a week ago and over the last couple of afternoons I ran the generator to accumulate the five hours of break in time appying different loads being careful not to exceed a fifty percent load as suggested by Westinghouse. I am currently using gasoline to fuel the generator. The first time I started it I used the pullcord as I was curious to see how easy it would start using the manual labor method. The temp was 35 degrees F and it started up on the second pull. Very smooth running and pretty quite. I like information so I am in love with the data center. One of the readouts available is the amount of run time left with the current load on the generator. If I plug in another device and increase the load the readout will update to show the new run time left with the increased load. I also like that the carburator came with a drain hose attached and a drain screw to faccillitate draining the carb. A thoughtful feature. The owner's manual is well written with lots of drawings, nice. The battery was door was popped off and the battery out of its tray when I opened the shipping carton. The attachment points where the battery hold down strap attaches to the generator plastic housing is very minimal. It takes very little pressure for the strap to become unattached. As others have mentioned Westinghouse missed the mark when it comes to draining the oil. If they were to enlarge the access door opening just a little on the left side it would go a long way in making the drainplug more easily accessable. All in all an impressive machine loaded with practical features.

The Perfect Generator

I did quite a bit of research and compared many models before deciding on this one. The remote start is just one of the many features that makes this unit worth owning. The dual fuel capability is another one. The fact that the propane connection hose, with regulator, and a battery charger is included is a plus. It even comes with a tool kit. The control panel is loaded with options. The digital display shows the approximate gas tank level and remaining run time along with the voltage and wattage outputs. It also keeps track of lifetime usage hours. All of the user ports and switches are equipped with protective covers. Switching from gasoline to propane is just a simple flip of a switch on the control panel once the propane tank is connected. In addition to the two heavy duty recessed grab bars on the top of the unit, there is a built in extendable handle that collapses completely out of the way when not in use. The 5 1/2 inch wheels are just right for moving across rugged terrain. Getting at the battery and oil dip stick is done by pushing the tab on the top side of the removable access panels. This housing of this compact transportable generator is sleek and smooth. Nothing sticks out beyond the cover and it completely encloses the engine and inverter with sound dampening material making this probably the quietest 4500 watt generator on the market.

Ample power & long runtime

I bought this generator prior to Hurricane Beryl and am glad I did. When the power went out, we had plenty of capacity to power a refrigerator, tv, router and a handful of fans. The generator is fuel-efficient and ran for quite some time (gasoline) - I like the ability to power the generator with propane as well.

Just what i was looking for!

I bought this to help power my adventures camping with my 5th wheel. While I can't power everything, the power this little guy puts out is sufficient to charge my batteries and run 1 A/C unit, Microwave, Coffee Maker.. etc. It is amazingly quiet and started right up first try, after following the quick start directions. Love the fact it runs on LP, now I don't have to worry about stale gas, or draining before longs trips. So far I'm super happy with the iGen4500DF!

Disappointed in iGen4500DF !!

I purchased the iGen4500DF (Dual Fuel) about 7 months ago and finally opened it up. First let me say I have purchased past Westinghouse items- generator and power washer. Both had no problems and still operate perfect. Now about this item, I followed all the instructions in the manual and any info on the wed site. Bottom line this generator runs on propane but won't run on gasoline. High disappointed and now its time for service. Hoping Westinghouse makes good on the warranty.
